Over the years I've found in certain circles that Redux V8 is quite the favorite version of SMOD. That it was the watershed moment for Redux, for the better. Some even prefer it to Redux Final. When I downloaded it for the first time in a long while, I had to do some finagling with addcontents, gameinfo, and the background.bsps. This isn't wholly laboursome, but that sort of thing is enough to deter some people from downloading this great mod, and I'm not for that. So I bring forth an all put together version of Redux V8, including the 1.0 addon pack, ready to work immediately with SMOD Standalone by simply extracting it to Standalone's "mods" folder. i have hl2 installed and run previously but smod does not have any of the half life 2 campaign maps, do you know why this would happen?
Did you follow the SMOD Standalone instructions to the letter? Including the installation of Source SDK Base 2006?
yes i have 2006 installed and ran aswell. SMOD40aq campaign maps work but not this v8 or Remaked by bossnoob
i noticed that the v8 and bossnoob version have bsp files outside the graphs and soundcache folders, Does this mean anything?
edit : the bsp files dont have trainstation chapter and other beginning chapters, it starts with eli and canals i think
What does your gameinfo.txt within v8 and bossn00b SMODs look like?
EDIT: I see what's happened! Son of a gun, thank you so much for bringing this to my attention. I'm really wondering how anyone else ran this at all with such a blatant oversight on my part. Go to your gameinfo.txt and add this line:
game "|gameinfo_path|..\..\..\..\common\Half-Life 2\hl2"
to where the ones that look like it are. That will solve your problem for both bossn00b's SMOD, and Redux v8. I'll need to reupload both with the proper gameinfo. Thank you so much.

I do all the instructions and I have an error "Failed to load launcher DLL: The specified module not be found".. gameinfo are correct and I already run on admin
You followed them exactly? You ran Half-Life 2 at least once, you ran Source SDK 2006 at least once, and then you ran the SMOD Standalone installer from within steamapps\sourcemods, the same steamapps where common\Half-Life 2 and common\Source SDK Base is?
I Installed the mod with all the SDK packs but refuses to load any of the maps except for black mesa east, and the gameinfo fix is there, idk what to do.

This is such an odd issue. I deleted my SMOD Standalone, reinstalled it, and downloaded this file and everything loads properly. The only thing I can assume is user error here regarding SMOD Standalone's installation, but luckily there's a quick fix. Go into your Half-Life 2\hl2\maps, copy all of the maps to your SMOD's map folders. Do NOT overwrite the maps that are present within.
Game crashes when trying to load a save.
There are known issues with certain Water Hazard maps regarding save corruption, unfortunately.
on d2_coast_03, the triggers are visible and have collision, and the skybox is missing. what am i doing wrong?

An unavoidable crash happens when I'm trying to load from end of water hazard to black mesa east chapter, the part where you have to raise the flood gate and drive your boat out of the dam and fall, just when I hit the water game loads followed by this crash:

Ive encountered this specific crash on other smod versions/variations and its ALWAYS on that one transition between water hazard and eli map d1_eli_01.bsp. Been googling and still haven't found a proper fix.

Okay so, In context. All I need to do is to put this thing inside the SMOD Standalone mod folder, I believe the gameinfo.txt is already fixed? But when I did put it, it says "can't find background image"

I had the most frustrating experience with this mod
most maps don't even load, so I have copy over all HL2 maps
When it does load, it either have glitch to hell graphics or just crash outright. And there's time where it just crash when loading a save file.
When it does work, it works wonderfully.
transition to a new level, I don't even know it might work or just crash outright. Using commands to manually load that level, either cause messy/corrupter/glitchy graphics or crash yet again.
Like I said before, when it works, it works wonderfully and It is a very fun experience. It just gone down the drain with the effort of trying to make it work.
You can't even go through the whole game without a crash or a glitch.
TL;DR: It has plenty of crashes and I can't play through the whole game without crashing.

The standalone does not have an smod redux folder where do I put it.
How to properly install SMOD (Tactical [1.0, Redux, 5.56, ProjectLifev2]) to prevent texture errors and crashes
1. Run Half-life 2 (and other required games for [whatever SMOD you're installing]) and Source SDK Base 2006 if you haven't already (AT LEAST ONCE!).
2. Unpack the [whatever SMOD you're installing].rar wherever you want.
*3a. Install "SMODStandalone_install.exe" and "SMODStandalone_CSS_addon.exe" from the official forums: Bsnooch.com
3b. Move the "SMODStandalone_install.exe" and "SMODStandalone_CSS_addon.exe" into your sourcemods folder
*If there is not a folder there already, create one called "sourcemods". -- Path --> C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/sourcemods
4. Run the SMODStandalone_install.exe and follow its instructions until it finishes.
5. Run the SMODStandalone_CSS_addon.exe and follow its instructions.
*5a. To fix any texture/asset issues, it is recommended to OVERWRITE the files in the Smod Standalone's CSSBase (*that you had just installed) with the CSSBase from the Redux: Moddb.com
*5b. You may also then apply an additional texture fix provided by user Onemanshow to address the issue where "Valve updated CSS to use orange box engine, they also added some detail textures from EP2 that don't work in the 2006 engine due to VTF version crap.":

6. Navigate to the newly created SMOD folder under sourcemods, and then to the mods folder. -- Path --> C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/sourcemods/Smod Standalone/mods
7. Extract the "[whatever SMOD you're installing].rar" into the mods folder.
8. Run the "Smod Stanalone.exe" to launch the game and test it. Feel free to make a shortcut to this file, as it will be how you launch the game from here on.

Am I supposed to die so quickly? Even on medium I die really easily, and I'm unsure if I'm playing it wrong or if it's supposed to be this difficult
Yep, the mod makes enemies hit you a lot harder than usual. Snipers can kill you really quickly in like 1 - 3 shots for instance.
Three questions:
1: Is there a way that I can transfer the Friendly Combine with Green eye lamps (or HECU Soldiers) or the SMOD settings on in-game menu from one redux version to another cleanly? I love my weapons on V8.2, and I even added the new models and adjusted the ironsights and scripts on a few (some still need a lot of work IMO) but would like to keep that and steal things from other versions. (Among the weapon scripts I changed were more than doubling the SMG1's damage while lowering its magazine to 20 rounds, and centering its ironsights better aligned.) Am I getting too greedy?
2: In the second-to-last[?] map in Nova Prospekt, the one in blocks D7 and D8, there are only two prison guards in D7. I have to kill another in order for Alyx to try to let me through then reprogram the turrets. If she doesn't, and I go on to D8 by cheats, she gets stuck in D8, unable to stop typing. Is there something in the map file I can change to fix this?
3: Is there a way to make npc_create npcs not be helpless with their weapons, or to put them in squads that communicate?

Hello! Sorry in advance for any trouble as this is my first time installing a big mod like this. To play this, I assume I need something called "SMod standalone". If this is true, where can I find and download this? and is there anything else I'll need to download to help?
