Recreating the newschool Doom experience in the old quake engine. Basicly a moddable demake with strafejumping.

This is undeniably impressive, but I get this weird feeling like I've played almost this exact game before...

Seriously though - what's the driving reason behind making something like this? Just to show it can be made? Is there something I can get from this that I can't from replaying Doom Eternal?

I only ask because I loved your Quake 1.5 mod and I'm (maybe understandably) agitated that project was abandoned for what's clearly a huge effort, but seems to amount to DE again but with intentionally worse graphics. Most demakes of which I'm aware have major alterations to game mechanics to conform with the feel of an older era, like removing an axis of movement or even swapping genres completely to work in 2D. This, however, seems almost like a convoluted exercise in determining if one could be tricked into thinking Quake was DE if they were visually impaired. Again, amazing job if that's what you're doing, but...

This all sounds harsh even as I write it, and I'm self-aware enough to know I'd personally hate to receive this comment, but I really don't mean for it to be taken as mean-spirited. And I know it's not going to disabuse you of developing this mod to go back to Q1.5 - I'm just frustrated, and kind of want to know "why this?" - but mostly just need to vent.
