Shotgun Sunrise is a zombie-riffic vehicular Western of brain-swallowing proportions. Here's how it works.SEVERAL COWBOYS roam in from the outskirts of town (so like 50 meters away from it) in a TRUCK. The truck seats eight.These cowboys have epic dress sense, by the way.These cowboys are called the RESCUERS. They must ACQUIRE THE ESSENTIAL SUPPLIES OF WESTERN POST-APOCALYPTIC LIVING:-Superior firepower-MoonshineIf you are a rescuer, you ride in or drive the truck around Shotgun following your compass to find your objectives. You and your comrades must cooperate in bringing the crate of superior firepower and the barrel of booze back to the truck. If one of you dies (thereby becoming a SURVIVOR as opposed to a RESCUER), you will respawn at a random but almost certainly unsatisfactory position somewhere in the town, armed only with a pistol and your axe, and no hat. To regain your hat, firepower and dignity you must get back to the truck. It is also the obligation of those who still have their hats to assist you in this endeavour.The crate, once attached to the truck, allows you to replenish your ammunition there and to gain the use of the tommygun.The booze, once brought to the truck, allows you to drink deeply and gain up to 125% of your health.After you have acquired both the booze and the firepower, it is just possible that your truck may break down under the strain. Should this happen, you will need to proceed on foot across town to the Shotgun Electrocombobulatory Power Facilitron and find something with which to jumpstart the vehicle.Having done so, you will need to blow town.

We've received quite a few requests in recent months and years from other mod teams who want to take over Shotgun Sunrise, but we never felt great about giving it to any one of them. A while ago we decided to give it to all of them, and also everyone else, by open-sourcing the mod. It's taken us a little while to get our shit together in order to do so, but it's mostly together now, we think. Certainly there is an archive with our source code and a bunch of other stuff you haven't seen before in it, and that archive is on the internet, and you can download it here at ModDB on our downloads page.
We're happy for you to use everything in that package in your own stuff, as long as you give us credit where appropriate, and differentiate any continuation of the mod you might make from our own work. We still really want to make another, better, Shotgun Sunrise game someday, so that name's taken. If you do want to continue the development of the mod, I humbly suggest you name that project Open Sourcegun Sunrise. Amazing name.
I for one have always greatly regretted not having been able to support this game more, or release a less buggy-and-laggy product from the start. Not being able to work on videogames all the time sucks. We appreciate all the support you've given us, from the 42% of you who rated the mod 10 of out 10 to the 21% who gave it a 1, and everyone in between. Hopefully, this source release, and the ability to play a Shotgun Sunrise game on iOS, make up for it to some degree.

Be prepared: everything in the source package is pretty old, sometimes super old. Those of you who know what you're doing with the Source engine are going to look at some of our stuff and say "holy god that's stupid" and you couldn't be more right. For instance, our solution to making sure the truck never flipped in Shotgun Sunrise was to place its center of gravity 40 feet underground. Good times... good times.

Also, Vroom! on PC looks a lot better, this game (PC version) is not so good, but thats not bad, you can kill some time. But version for Iphone and etc is real ****.

where are the players and what the vroom
I know that this is actually true, but you made some phrases like "Hm, you know thats good and fun" into "OH MY GOSH, OTHER MODS AND GAMES SUCK, THIS IS THE BEST OF THEM !". I hate when people do that. I totally disagree with James Benson, I guess he just sayed that this is the best game of all time because : 1. He is very dumb; 2. He and his friend (mostly his friend) worked on mod and this game, so he made propaganda; 3. both. Seriously, you just spitted in your fans's face, most of us believed you and JoshuaC, but when we buyed that what we got : horrible controls; 3 small levels where you can only ride around the stage over, over and over and if you have a good luck - smashing some zombies (thats impossible to hit them with those controls, plus they are kinda tricky). Seriously ? 0.99 $ for this ? You know instead of making THIS, you could spend time on making a lot of new maps for Shotgun Sunrise, but no, you dumbed Shotgun and tryed to get a rid from your and Benson's fans, by making a kinda ****** game, making a propaganda like "BEST GAME EVER!". And now, you making fun of me ? You and Benson, need to be very grateful for everyone, who buyed your "Vroom!", cause I havent seen any worse Carmageddon ****** clone ever and for that youre dumbed one of awesome projects in my minde, you ignorant son of a bitch. I guess youre lieing about Gabe Newell's reception and James Benson's reception (And other receptions too), Gabe Newell never sayed anything about that mod, James Benson (plus I highly doubt that he can adore "Vroom!", becaue controls are very bad) and JoshuaC too. Seriously, who you trying to fool ? You think we all so dumb to believe in it ? Plus your mod and game are not so good, Shotgun Sunrise is never finished and have only one map. Vroom! is not bad, but controls are very bad and thats too short (in my opinion you need to sell that for free, not for 0.99). Come on guys, we all know that trick, if your mod (game, movie or etc) is not going to be good or very good, add some reception from famous people and others will download it immediately. But anyway, I liked the mod very much as a gamer. But as a critic, I can say, that mod is not soooo good. Believe me, I know that most (or maybe all if count Podcast 17 reception) of receptions from famous people for that game and mod are ********.

Well Gabe really mentioned Shotgun Sunrise in one of his Q&A, but he didnt sayed, that this mod is soooo goood or best, he just sayed that this mod is very fun. But everyone knows that Gabe and Valve and not only once sayed, that here is a tons of good or best mods. So, sorry Impromptu, but your trick failed even here. But I need to say, that I really liked Shotgun Sunrise as a gamer, but as critic I need to say, that this is not a very good mod, that mod is just not bad. And I kinda like Vroom! too, but please, do something with car controls.
