The good folks over at The Battlegrounds Modification (the only Revolutionary War mod for Half-Life & Half-Life 2) have released their source code under an altered version of the Open Source Mod License, which Ben Banfield calls The Battlegrounds Open License (BGOL). Using BGOL will not only shave off months of coding time, but will ensure a minimum quality level which is still staggeringly high.

Don't fret though, in no way will Shores of Victory be in any way, shape or form a World War 2 knock off of The Battlegrounds, we are just using BGOL as a strong base point for the mod, you will notice differences (which will, in agreement to the license, be listed). Also in accordance with the BGOL, the Shores of Victory code will also be released as an Open Source project under the same license, so all code changes we've made can be made for other programmers to use, assuming they comply with the BGOL license agreements.

For more information on the BGOL license, you can check out this thread at the Battlegrounds forums. If you have any questions regarding BGOL, or our decision to use it, please stop by our Forums or IRC channel.
