Back in the days of Windows 98, A theme was made for the upcoming Half-Life game. Featuring sounds from in game provided by Valve. Two of these sounds were from an older version of the diagnostic, and announcement system voice. Here are the two sounds: After hearing these, we decided to take an attempt to make a vox that resembled what these sounded like. Now, it isn't exactly like the original sounds. I added reverb similar to the retail vox since it blends into the game much better. It also doesn't sound quite as robotic either. I found it harder to understand with a similar filter over the voice so I decided to tone it down a bunch so the player could actually understand what it is saying. Let me know what you all think about these sounds! |

It's neat, I'll give you guys that. I don't know, The retail VOX system is so embedded into my head that I don't think I could imagine it sounding different. (Obviously it did) |

Nice recreation of the beta VOX. This made me can't really wait for SHAFT! |

Its hard to imagine HL without the announcement system, I really like the normal one but this might grow on me. |

This is why I tried to mimic some of the reverb and compression from the retail vox. Hopefully it will blend better that way. Since I did the editing and tested it in-game, I might be a bit biased on if you will get used to it or not. It didn't take me long to get used to it, but I listened to it non-stop for a day. Yours sounds a little too human. |

Without it, it would be almost incomprehensible. |
