Custom episode made for Duke Nukem 3D. It will require Eduke to run due to using the expanded limits. Explore and conquer 5 massively epic maps. Filled with intense battles, destructive earthquakes, plenty of secrets and easter eggs, a post-apocalyptic atmosphere and a story that actually progresses from map to map. Also contains a custom soundtrack especially written and recorded for this episode by myself (mixed by my brother Maarten) How to play: To play this episode, extract this zip.file into a folder containing both an installation of Eduke and a Duke3d.GRP Run Eduke.exe and select 'Shaky Grounds' from the 'Custom game content directory' list.
The Shaky Ground has now been reviewed for the CGS website, it's a lenghty article that dives deep into several aspects of the episode: the individual maps, the soundtrack, gameplay, design and the experience of the episode as a whole. Here's a small quote:
"Conclusion: I am positive this is just the best thing I have played for Duke during my 20+ year adventure with this game. Merlijn just managed to make a consistent, extremely entertaining episode, with immersive story, strong atmosphere, masterful design and epic scale, balancing out the pace and tone and topping it off with complimenting music."
It got a whopping 100 out 100, which of course makes me really happy! You can read the whole review here: Scent-88.com
Don't forget to download and try the episode for yourselves if you haven't already ;)

An absolute banger made by one of if not THE best mapper for the build engine series: Merlijn.
The only guy I can think of that even comes close is Bob Averill, yet Merlijn continues to crank out great duke3d maps for nearly 20 years now.
Easily the best series of maps I've ever played in any FPS, let alone Duke 3D. Genuinely amazing. Fun from start to finish.
Thanks, glad you liked it! :)
What a challenge hard from the get go niceee
Yes there are some pretty hectic battles in this, especially on 'Come get some'. Glad you enjoyed!
For those trying to figure out how to run it on Mac:
1. Open Terminal
2. Type in “/Applications/EDuke32.app/Contents/MacOS/EDuke32 -j/path/to/Shaky\ Grounds”
3. Start Atomic Edition as usual
4. Select New Game - you can now select Shaky Grounds!
If your Eduke32 App is somewhere else than in your Applications folder then amend the path. And of course amend the path to Shaky Grounds, wherever it is stored on your disk.
Can't get past the start first vent I stuck raze touc
One of the Raze devs has fixed that in the source port's code. You can download a nightly build of Raze (or wait for the next stable version to come out), start the episode and get through that vent just fine. ;)
The episode was made for Eduke32, so I can't say how well it runs with Raze. But crawling through a vent should be possible in any version of the game, so I'm not sure why you get stuck there?
In any case, you can always use 'dnclip' if there's no other option.
Excellent episode! Love love love it. Thanks for your great efforts my friends.
Thanks! :D
