A mod for Hexen 2 that adds weapon altfires, stat upgrades, and various balance tweaks, effects, bugfixes, & new features for mappers. This fork is based on the Shadows Of Chaos mod/mapset by Bloodshot, which is in turn based on the Game Of Tomes mod. Detailed description, credits, & instructions included in readme file.
Unzip the contents into your Hexen 2 directory so that there is a folder sibling to the data1 folder. To play, use the included .bat file or otherwise launch the game with the "-game [folder name]" command. You can replay the vanilla game and user maps with the mod, or create new maps using the mod's various features. There are also a few releases that require the mod and use its' features. Install them into the mod's folder, without allowing any overwriting. The only conflict is that they include different Strings.txt, which you'll need to manage. If you don't plan on reading or modifying the mod's code, delete the "src" source code folder. If you download the SoC demo hub, rename the "demo1.bsp" and "demo1.lit" files to any other name, such as "vil1.bsp", because the name conflicts with a file in this mod.

Additions since 1.26: Mod options can be changed with an in-game menu instead of the console; Reiver missile speed and melee charge speed decreased; Berserker experience points increased; Corpse respawning timer decreased
Mapping features: All monsters can use DONTMORPH spawnflag to be immune to the Ovinomancer (useful for custom mini-bosses); Candles can be toggled on/off
Fixes: All model filenames changed to lowercase for Linux users; Corpse respawning timer fixed; Berserker pathfinding improved (can go up/down stairs properly); Fixed bug where thrown Warhammers would sometimes not stop making sound
Hi I'm using Hammer of Thyrion v1.5.9 and when I use your mod with this sourceport (I haven't tried it vanilla or with a different sourceport) I get an error message stating 'Host_Error: Model *1 not found' and the game won't start for me. Do you know if I'm doing anything wrong or is this a problem with the mod itself?
EDIT: Never mind I managed to get the engine suggested by you working and that fixed the problem.
How you fix this problem? I have same error.
A couple bug reports:
Some of the file names are still incorrect for Linux. It might be down to .MDL or .WAV extensions where they should be .mdl and .wav. Basically the case should match exactly to what's referenced in the HexenC programs.
If it would help for me to send in the fixes I made to get the resources to load correctly, let me know.
Also, the stat upgrade and settings menus are zoomed in way too far, using the latest uhexen2-shanjaq build for Linux. Adjusting the UI zoom slider doesn't affect this:

Thanks. What is your FOV setting? I added an algorithm to scale the menu size based on FOV (because it's really just a flat model in front of your face), so ideally it would look good at any FOV. But the calculation must be off.
It's at the default value of 90.
Oh, there's something else that affects the menu. For some reason, if you look up/down, it appears farther or closer respectively. So if you just look straight ahead, it should fit on the screen perfectly.
Actually, for the next update, I should make pressing the menu button also reset your view angle to avoid this.
That would make sense, I generally play with mouselook permanently turned on since analog aiming is quite handy for dealing with things like spiders and imps.
