What the heck is this mod?

The Shadow Mavericks MP Mod ("SMMP" for short, MP standing for both Multiplayer & Multipurpose.) is an ever-evolving, wild and wacky collection of our clan's maps and ideas. This mod is designed to be used with Zandronum 3.0+.

As the name would suggest, it is a multiplayer-centric mod that has more than one purpose; It's part weapons mod, part HD visual enhancement, part COOP/DM/DUEL/CTF/LMS map pack, part 'headquarters' mod, part class-based slugfest, part monster replacement, part joke mod, and part whatever-the-fuck-we-want. It's primary purpose though is to provide us with a base for limitless experimentation, and to allow us to make something very fun, interactive, hilarious, and addicting to play.

It doesn't follow any rules, it never takes itself too seriously, and is filled with over-the-top, bizarre, and often hilarious weapons, enemies, sounds, maps, jokes, and the occasional internet meme reference. It's the kind of mod that's best played with friends.

The mod is still considered a beta, due to the fact that a majority of the maps are incomplete or in the process of a major overhaul. [SM] members can contribute their own content such as maps, artwork, sounds, and code where I (StrikerMan780) will merge them into the project if considered high enough quality.

DISCLAIMER:

  • While the core module of SMMP is relatively safe-for-work, minus some profanity and copious amounts of gore, the extras module is free-reign content-wise. The extras module contains nudity, full-blown sexual imagery, politically incorrect/offensive humor, and plenty of foul language.
  • We've provided an "R18+" content toggle in the in-game settings to enable or disable the sexually-explicit content, it's there to use if you're in public, are streaming/recording, etc. It's also good if certain content bothers you, but you still like the mod overall.
  • With all that said, do not say to us or anyone else that you weren't warned or given the option regarding the content. If you're so thoroughly disgusted/offended by it despite being given a choice, delete it and just don't play it... don't complain to us, we don't care, we won't listen, we'll continue to do what we damn well want.

SMMP Testing

I'm currently hosting a test build of SMMP, if anyone is willing to give it a shot. Keep in mind, bugs are to be expected. This build has an assload of major changes since the previous builds.

The server isn't publicly listed, so you must add it to your list on Doomseeker or Doom Explorer. The IP of the testing server is shadowmavericks.com:10669

GetWad/Wadseeker will automatically download the necessary files. Note, they are huge due to being uncompressed. This is to avoid loading pauses and because it makes compiling devbuilds quicker.

The build gets updated frequently, so if you join and there's a version mismatch, delete your existing copies of SMMP_Core_DEV.pk3 and SMMP_MapsAndExtras_DEV.pk3, and then re-download them.

This requires Zandronum 3.0.

SMMP is still being worked on, targeting Zandronum 3.0. Another release is still a ways off.

You're using the wrong zandronum version, or are mixing incompatible versions of the core and extras.

How do I get this mod working? Always gives me:

^ ^ ^ Likely due to me running GZDoom, but when I try it with Zandronum, it doesn't even change the title, and gives me:

One, it's not for GZDoom. Second, like it says in the description if you had read it, it is for Zandronum 3.0+.
