A new evil faction, new heroes, spells and units for original factions, new maps, and campaign-compatible. Shadow and Flame is a modern reimagining of BFME1.
Looking at not one but two new and fully playable factions in the faction list.
Eriador, though not yet complete, already has great gameplay. It's not the easiest faction to play, but it's a lot of fun.
After Eriador and the original factions, what would you guys like to see?
very nice
Harad or Dale, aswell as some new Eriador based maps.
Don't worry, there's plenty more Eriador maps to come.
AWESOME!!!
Harad would be nice!
I think dale would be a good idea, I reallly enjoyed them in DaC. Few mods add Dale as a full faction, instead they make them be a Dwarven sub-faction. Then you could add Rhun to be Dale's main enemy. That would be interesting.
What's DaC, precious?
Divide and Conquer, a massive submod for TA:TW
But he's right, few people actually think of Dale and the men of Lake-town strong enough to be a separate faction. They always put them in as a subfaction to the Dwarves. Like the Edain Mod or basically any BFME mod out there; the Northmen will rise one day (hopefully). :D
Edit: Didn't see the comment below haha
DaC is Divide and Conquer, a huge submod for Third Age Total War, with every single faction of the Late Third Age being represented in the game.
I personally think two factions are enough, it makes SaF really unique. But if Mathjis want to expand his mod, then it's up to him, not to us to tell him what to add. He really can make something unique, not always inspired by the movies or already existing content used by others sources.
That's an approach we've indeed taken so far. A big reason I wanted to do Gundabad is because it hadn't really been done (at least for BFME). Same for Eriador; people have done Arnor, but I have not played a WotR-era faction set in the north (yes, I know TATW did, but! I first started developing my Eriador faction back in 2007 ;)).
I'm not sure if I want to do another faction after Eriador (even though it still says Haradwaith on this page's description), but I'm interested to hear people's ideas. Not just factions, either, DúnedainRanger76 and myself are also interested in doing scripted maps, improving and adding onto the campaign, etc. Potentially, of course.
Scripted maps sounds like a great idea. Altough I didn't played many of them, and my attempt of making my own maps was brought to an end by my poor skills in BFME's world builder.
I agree with Aragorn, two factions are enough for a mod and there aren't many factions that haven't already been developed by another group.
I think you should try that, doing scripted maps and improving the campaing. At least it's something you are already interested in doing. Whatever you decide to do, this mod will still be awesome.
Umbar as a faction maybe?
If there had to be another faction, I'll be glad to see Haradwaith :)
It could be another unique hit and run faction , light infantry and fast cavalry with powerful support units and monsters.
It'd be cool to see a full fledged mirkwood faction, or dale like others have said above, i feel like with either you wouldn't need another evil faction to balance it out since gundabad was both mirkwood and dale's main enemies during the hobbit time span anyways.
I would like to see Dol Guldur as a faction on itself, with the Necromancer, Khamûl and the Mouth of Sauron as their greatest leaders. And maybe Angmar.
