I'm in the process of revamping the oldest units in the mod, most of which were made several years ago when I had little knowledge or experience creating 3d assets. There's always a demand for new content, but considering this is the final update of the mod, it's worth overhauling the most commonly played units important to the TV series.

You can find screenshots of the updated units in the media section of this page. The Golden Company, House Lannister, Stark, Tarly, Tyrell, and Karstark are already complete and in-game.

I'm also in the process of finishing the high poly 3d models of House Bolton. This is the first step in creating assets for Attila, and also the most time consuming -- creating detailed 3d replicas of the units before they're retopologized, uvwrapped, textured, rigged, and imported into the game. The model below took roughly 10-12 hours:

Questions & Answers


Q: How do I install the mod? Can you please help me?
A: Please view the detailed installation instructions included in the release notes. These articles are displayed along with each update. I'm unable to respond to individual PMs with questions and can't provide any information not already contained in the instructions. It's an extremely simple installation process.

Q: Why isn't this mod hosted on Steam?
A: There are file size restrictions on the Steam workshop. There are also legal issues hosting third-party intellectual property on a monetized platform, so I'm unlikely to risk the project's future by hosting it there. You are NOT allowed to host it there on your own!

Q: Where is the "Battle of the Bastards" file? I can't find it!
A: It was removed from Steam several years ago when the project stopped and I no longer have any of the source files. It won't be available again. Sorry!

Q: Does this mod work on Mac?
A: Don't have a clue, never tried. Some people are saying it does work but there's a different installation process. Try YouTubing videos on how other Mac users got mods to work, I can't help you!

Q: Is there a campaign mode? Can you make one?
A: No, there is not a campaign mode and never will be one. There are limitations to the Attila development toolkit that have been discussed here for years.

Q: Will you add book content?
A: No, this is a TV show mod. Any characters in the books but not the show (e.g. Young Griff) will not be added.

Q: Will you add units from Robert's Rebellion? Or any other era outside the TV show?
A: No, this is a TV show mod.

Q: Will you add a faction with all units available?
A: Yes.

Q: Will you add other units from Essos that appeared in the show, like the slaver soldiers and Sons of the Harpy?
A: Yes, but this is very low priority. Only when the existing units are updated and improved will I consider adding new ones.

Q: Will you add White Walkers?
A: No, the focus is on updating standard units and armies. White Walkers would be vulnerable to regular swords, arrows, etc. which would also break immersion.

Q: Will the Golden Company have elephants?
A: Yes. They weren't shown in the TV show but we know they exist in the universe, only being omitted due to budget restrictions and CGI costs.

Q: When will the update be released?
A: Probably not for 2-3 more months. The reason I stopped development on this project for nearly two years was because of limited time and real life constraints. This is a one-man job, I'm doing what I can with the time I have, please be patient.

Q: What other Houses do you plan on updating?
A: Probably Mormont, Frey, Bolton, Manderly (they look cartoonish) and House Arryn. These are all very old and outdated. If there are others you'd like to see overhauled, let me know in the comments section so I can prioritize based on community feedback.

The following units, armies, features etc. will NOT be added to the game. Please read this carefully!
- Telltale content (e.g. House Forrester, House Whitehill)
- Anything from Robert's Rebellion or eras prior to the TV show. This is a TV show mod only!
- Content from books that wasn't featured in the TV show (e.g. Young Griff)
- A campaign mode or the Battle of the Bastards map (explained above)

I am a little confused. I am aware of your time constraints but will you work on Seven Kingdoms: Deliverance if mod tools are made available or have they explicitly said mod support is not a thing?

It's no longer in development for KC:D because of the mod tool issue. They promised mod support initially but it appears support will be very limited, if it's made available at all. Without going into too much technical detail, CryEngine is extremely complex, and it doesn't appear the game was structured from the beginning to allow much flexibility.

I decided to create a final update for Attila: Total War instead.

Will you be changing unit stats based on the strengths/weaknesess of the different houses, as atm many of the units have similar stats, if not the same. For example Vale cav could be better than the other houses, but come in smaller unit sizes/be more expensive e.c.t?

Good question, forgot to include details on this in the update (may edit). There are a number of changes to unit stats and rosters. Each faction has standard units, with one special unit per faction. It's simplified compared to earlier versions.

The Riverlands gets a billmen unit, the Reach gets a voulgier unit, the Westerlands gets heavy pikemen, etc. This should add some unique strengths to the factions. For the most part though, Houses within each faction are the same.

one humble request of mine would be...to remove halberds,and keep spear units with only spears or at least have them in separate units.

BM_ you are the King of the Mods! Are you planning to add anything else than the Golden Company? I know it's not cannon but are house Forrester, Whitehill and Blackwood possible? You are doing a great job!

House Forrester's armor look eerily similar to House Bracken (in the mod) - a shield change would be best if the great BM does plan on doing Forresters.

Forrester is a combination of Stark and Bracken, Whitehill is mostly Bolton, now Blackwood I don't know, I only know their sigil... I really hope the great BM_ will do it...

Are you going to add the Dothrakis as a faction?
You could try to work with the guy from the Kingdom of Westeros mod and add your units to his mod, so we could play a campaign of Game of Thrones

The Kingdoms of Westeros guy leaked this mod before the first release and made YouTube videos of it. He then stole content and claimed it as his own. This is why I'm very protective/paranoid about people using my work, some people abuse it.

Will never work with that guy on anything!

Do you have any plans to add some units to the Essos faction? Like some of the slaver-states( Meereen & Company. Some Soldiers can be seen in the show. Maybe to much work with that. Anyway you done a great job with all the houses!

oh thx, also I have problem with the game, so my game it's not the steam version and every time I lunch the game it just goes directly into the game so can't manage the mod or even play any mod, what should I do

I feel like they need to have more white gold armor than the typical gold and the clothes should be orangish/yellowish but they look good so far

I love the mod and am so happy that you are updating it!
One small bug I've found which is hopefully easily fixable, is that House Dayne's pikemen don't ever have their pikes out despite them being in formation, so they die very easily.

My friend tested it as well, same bug.
Also, Wyman Manderly's unit has the trample "Run them down!" power, while no other mounted character unit has that. Would you be able to give all named general units, i.e, Jaime Lannister, that same ability? :D
The Karstark pikemen unit has more men than any other pikemen unit for some reason :)
One more thing :D
Each catapult unit for all the factions some reason have 1 viking amongst them from the base Attila game. It's quite a funny sight, but hopefully this is all fairly easy to fix! :D
Speaking of artillery, you ever gonna add more types of artillery? Mountable artillery during siege? I don't know what's possible for you and what isn't, so no pressure.

Also when doing siege battles the game just lags like crazy and its basically unplayable

Will do! I'm not sure if this is a bug with the mod or the base game. I've only encountered this with the mod on though I may be wrong. Sometimes when cavalry unit soldiers die their body floats in the air while the horse dies normally or runs off. Not sure if that's fixable.
Manderly's best archers are only men-at-arms unlike the other Northern houses. This means they don't have the Precision shot abilities like the others, and their stats are slightly different to the others.
Glover Guardsmen (Longbows) and said Manderly Men-at-Arms (Longbows) have a slightly higher armour class of 4 compared to the other units at 3.
Manderly have a lot more unit choices, only comparable to House Stark itself. Not sure if that's intentional or if you're planning on building up all the other factions to match this. :D
I haven't checked the other factions thoroughly enough, though I do recall there being some more units within some factions that are slightly inconsitent in abilities such as Run them Down and Precision shot.
Anyway, if I find any more bugs I will be sure to let you know. Least I can do to say thank you for such an amazing mod!

About White Walkers, you said White Walkers could be killed by normal steel, which could kill the immersion, which is true. But what if you added a whole new faction with all the armies that fought in The Long Night? By that I mean: swords, spears, shields, arrows, daggers all have dragon glass on them and the weapons the Dothraki use could have dragon glass aswell, I don't know if it's possible to have them lit. It's just a suggestion, I know that it would take very long and I understand if you don't have the time, real life goes first.
