Now it the students have started a game developer studio, Coffee Stain Studios, and are developing Sanctum as a standalone game using the UDK.

There are in fact new towers and enemies in the game already. There is a pending (At the time of writing this message) news post, awaiting approval that contains much more information about the current game. So check back in a few hours or so or head on over to Blog.sanctumgame.com to read the news post directly.
Cool, i was just playing the first Alpha ;) so i havent checked back since that.
