Add an new "empire building" mechanic for a truly epic Star Trek experience. A total conversion mod where you can play as one of 5 Star Trek factions with Rebellion 1.85.

Note: This is a review-in-progress, I will update it as I play more

Pro:
-seems to reduce the number of ships in comparison to vanilla Sins (and certainty in comparison to Armada 3). I think this is a good thing and it better reflects star trek lore and the "feel" of star trek space combat.
-low tier units are still useful into the late game (such as the Miranda and Excelsior, both of which have powerful upgrades). Contrast this with Armada 3, where low tier frigates feel like cannon fodder by the time late game rolls around.
-Factions feel quite distinct (an accomplishment, given that many Sins mods follow the lead of the base game, which had relatively indistinguishable factions (in terms of gameplay)).

Con:
-Dated looking models and effects
-Vanilla Sins assets stand out like a sore thumb (planetary shields, refineries, hangar bays)
-Strange choices for music. Some of it is from various Star Trek media but a lot of it is not, and can really stand out and break the immersion. For example - parts of the Rome Total War soundtrack play for the Klingons, in one instance looping over and over again. It was very jarring.
-Some wierd choices for ship stats (Saber having significantly less health than Miranda, buffed Excelsior being much more tanky than Akira)
-Some wierd choices for unit roles (Constitution class heavy cruiser being used in a scout role instead of as an early game cruiser; Venture class as space superiority fighter when it's clearly identified as a scout in Insurrection; Peregrine class being designated a torpedo bomber when they are clearly referred to as attack fighters in DS9,

A very enjoyable mod, with some great work at differentiating each race's play style. Good sounds and well realised ships (although I'd love to see them just a shade more detailed) and excellent research trees, especially those involving the need for allies. Ideally I'd like to see the titan mechanic realised for this mod, but with the gameplay as it is, it's not essential. Great work at encouraging the player to build a variety of ships, rather than the simple cap ship zerg rush we're all so used…
