Two things:
1. I don't follow the Original Series much, whereas I could name you just about every single ship there is from all 4 other Star Trek series.
2. You did not answer my question...

Amazing, I have seen many a TNG episode, and I have never heard of the Crystalline entity.
Sheesh. I spend too much time re-watching episodes with the Borg and Q, and not enough time looking for new stuff.
