Posted by on

This article is created to support the Zombie Mod Beta version that is not yet released. However, everything described is True and will be useful in the future.

Requirements

Non-steam players: Rome Total War (v1.5), Rome Total War Alexander (v1.9)

Steam players: Rome Total War Alexander

Remark

Some people had problems with mising textures in the Public Beta version. All the missing files were included into the Public Beta (23.02.2017) and the problem is solved now. Just download it again and reinstall.

Installation

Non-steam players: Unpack the Zombie Mod archive directly to the Rome Total War folder (where the files RomeTW.exe and RomeTW-ALX.exe are located).

Steam players:

1) Unpack the Zombie Mod archive directly to the Rome Total War Alexander folder (where the file RomeTW-ALX.exe is located, usually Steam\steamapps\common\Rome Total War Alexander).

2) Go to Steam -> Steam Library -> Right Mouse Click on Rome Total War Alexander -> Settings -> Set launch options

3) Write this line in the launch options text field: -mod:ZombieMod -ne -nm - show_err
and save.

How to launch the mod

Non-steam players: To start Rome: Total War - Zombie Mod run the file Zombie Mod.bat in the Rome Total War folder.

Steam players: To start Rome: Total War - Zombie Mod run Rome Total War Alexander from Steam.

Attention!

  1. Every time you start a new campaign or load a savegame you have to select your city. After that your will see the advisor on the left-top of the screen. Click on his (her) face and he (or she) will say that the main campaign script is activated. [Playing without the main script activated is poinless because it fully controls the zombie-epidemy and its spreading]
  2. It is highly recommended to read the survival guide before playing. Otherwise, there is a risk for you of being owned by zombies.

I am getting a "Failed to read censored word dictionary file: data//chat_filter.san" error when I try to play this

I get this on my physical disc of Rome Total War gold edition, steam version of Alexander and 3 other torrent downloaded Rome Total War Alexanders that I downloaded just to see if I get the same error

so I followed your instructions for installing on steam, but it still crashes every time I'm attacked and it goes to the battle map. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
