Rising Sun is a mod for Mount & Blade: Warband based on the Gekokujo mod set during the late Bakumatsu and Boshin War periods of Japan (1866 - 1869). Fight to restore the Imperial Court or retain the Tokugawa Shogunate.

Rising Sun back in business.

Rising Sun is back and probably for good this time. Thanks to the OSP Blood & Iron II content released by Parrot & Willhelm this mod can now be continued. I removed all the North & South content and I plan on replacing it with Blood & Iron II based content.

What does this mean?

Pretty much this means the mod will continue development, but will no longer use any North & South or disallowed content and instead will use the old B&I II content as a base for uniforms and other things such as guns. Unfortunately this also means it will be a while longer before the mod is released as I will have to remake and replaced all of the uniforms and guns with the guns being the main issue as (there aren't that many 1860s/1850s mods with heaps of non North & South guns), but I'm sure it'll all work out as I'll just have to put in more effort for once.

So yeah the mod is back and this time around hopefully it will survive. Much thanks to Parrot, Willhelm and the Blood & Iron team for making that Blood & Iron II content OSP as its the reason this mod can go on.

More info from previous article below

Rising Sun

Originally I created this mod for myself because no Boshin War mods existed for Mount & Blade Warband and I was keen to blast away Samurai with revolvers and rapid firing rifles, but as the topic has proven popular and since the idea worked well I have decided to release its existence to the public.

However because I created it for myself I had only focused on the Satsuma, Choshu, Tosa Domains and only recently the Shogunate forces and there is much work to be done creating troops, npcs and factions. Almost all of the lords and knights need to be redone and many of the factions need to be remade.

Feedback and Ideas

If you have any ideas or feedback (negative or positive) of the modification be sure to comment it or get it out there I will almost definitely read it.

Dead Mod Concerns, Will this mod die?

No doubt some of you may worry that this project will die and there will never be a Boshin War mod for Mount & Blade: Warband, but fear not (EDIT: still no reason to fear even though the mod almost did die lol). Most likely I will continue work on this mod until at least a proper Boshin War experience is attained.

However in the event I don't I will release whatever exists as Rising Sun for the community to access and perhaps continue if they so desire however at the moment it is unlikely that will happen.

Plans for the Future (at the moment)

I plan for this mod to have fully completed factions and troops for a proper Boshin War experience. At the moment this mod is Singleplayer only however in the future it is possible for Multiplayer to be added. I attempt to stay realistic in the goals of this mod and not try and do something outlandish yet like promise to add a Gatling Gun or you know, Korea or the entire Qing China Mainland as a faction. I aim for this mod to simulate in some way 1860s tactics and the Bakumatsu warfare. Naval battles may become a possibility, but at the moment I have no idea.

Updates

I plan to update this as much as possible as I know how painful it is to wait months between news and updates for a mod so no worries there.

So thats is...... Thanks for all your support and have a good one boys and girls :)

This is brilliant news! Congrats!
I keep doing this, but if you're in need of assets from the 1850s/60s perhaps you should check out this mod? Moddb.com
Not entirely sure what the developer is like in terms of sharing his content, but its worth a try none the less!

Keep up the great work and best of luck for future development! I wish I had the skills to lend more productive support, alas all I'm really good at is writing so I don't know if I could be of much assistance, but if there is anything you need, do feel free to let me know!

Thanks again for the support man glad you like the mod. I checked out the mod you linked and it seems to have a lot of shared content with the North & South mod, but if I can't find any other alternatives for revolvers or things like that I'll have a crack at getting permission from the dev. Really any support or even negative feedback especially after I release the mod is most welcome.

I guess if it makes you feel more productive your comment on the takedown article was actually one of the reasons I decided to not give up so quickly so in a way you helped this mod get back in business. :)

I don't spend enough time on moddb, if some one could could inform me on why mods were being removed that would be greatly appreciated.

I thought it was gonna be dead, but I managed to save it by replacing all the North & South assets.
