Hello everyone!
Hope you all enjoy our little April fools joke update last week. We're now back bringing you some proper news on ROTR development.
Before we dive head first in to developing 2.0 we're going to squeeze in one more major release that will be known as version 1.87
This release will address some of the current problems in game balance, bugs and introduce some new things for all factions.
I'm sure you all remember the Backbear render we posted in early January.
We're happy to announce that its its coming to ROTR 1.87 in shape of a new rank5 generals power called "Ursa Division" which will alow you to build a single Blackbear.
In addition to that all all Kodiaks, Golems and Sentinels build after choosing this generals power wil be build as Veterans.

Additionally Boris can now be trained directly from the barracks and no longer requires a weapon load out to be selected beforehand.
Instead Boris can now chose his weapon load out in the field, this also means that you can select a new weapon load out every time he falls in action and is retrained from the barracks.

Suddenly, I get this weird feeling that people might start using Machine Gun Boris...
I use him quite often because he kills aircraft better than 2 or even 3 virgin Igla troopers. A lot faster too. Put the MG Boris in a Mishka with 1 conscript (with night vision) and 2 Aleksandrs chosen, see what they can do together.
That basically putting up together a serious-threat level fireteam
It really is, until the Mishka blows up since its soft and fragile. Nothing is more scary than a full GLA battle bus. Killing it once isnt enough

I wonder if it can stand up to American air power? *calls in MOAB with 8 auroras and A-10 strike* would love to see the A-10 as a buildable unit...so damn powerful

Is there a chance we'll see AI improvements in 1.87? For example, Russia has a pretty hard time managing its energy before building the Industrial Plant, China still uses the Troop Crawler as if it had fire ports, and ECA builds howitzer positions but never actually fires them, and I don't think I've ever seen them use the Venom protocol.
And dont forget the AI not building more than one super weapon
Super, loving the work Hunter - you are a real credit to the RTS community! The RTS genre's future is bright, as long as you are still around. What happened to you and Doomy doing those Twitch commentating nights on ROTR and Shockwave? For, I miss those weekly episodes, that is for sure....
Doomy had some trouble with his PC over the course of the last week we will likely continue doing those again soon :)
how much more units can the C&C game brain. before it goes hey that to many units like how much more data can a old game take?

you'd better bugs eliminated. and it is actually impossible to finish the game, it lags then it crashes the box sync is not compatible

the devs are probably aware of this but the lag bug is a killer, after a certain amount of time the game starts lagging like crazy but, i have found a temp fix for that, just launch the game, then go to your task manager and set the priority for the "game.dat*32" file to high.
Note: from what i've tested this will take a lot of your pc's power, so make sure you're not running anything other than the game.
Also, forgot to mention this above, to be able to set priority in the task manager "processes" tab, you have to press the "show processes from all users" button first, otherwise it will not give your permission to do that.

Holly s''t dude, thanks for the info, it worked like a charm. I actually got used to the lag before, it even gave me time to think more of what to do in tight situations.
actually this works for me, I dunno how long it will takes until "mismatch" happens, but I played together with my brother with 1 allied AI in a 3v3 map against 3 enemy AI, just medium but we managed to finish the game after 1 hour or more gameplay.
It works for me too.
I remember having severe problems on full 8 player maps, not only lag but units not obeying commands. Not one unit wanted to move where i click.
as far as i know ZH have a Unit Limit wich causes to stop all ground units and they move only a cm. only aircraft is uneffected this problem has espiacilly in 8 player maps where the unit limit is to low

Will the VDV ever get ANY type of anti air? They get shredded by a single helicopter and cant fight back. At least strap on an Igla on one of their vehicles, or an auto-cannon, a weak auto-cannon that can shoot at aircraft.
Every reinforcement GP has a weakness. VDV's one is the lack of AA. They are supposed to be à support to your troops. Not a free unstoppable invasion force
If you can drop the VDV without their transport planes getting shot down, you can deliver 8 igla troopers to them in a hunchback, or 6 of them in a hind, without the helicopters getting shot down.
