Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.

Nice! .......
Did you guys just copy and paste again!? lol maybe not.... little similar to Demolition General's Topol in Shockwave. I'm impress of the design....

But...... can fire anywhere in the map.... X_X
How does this function in the game, is it same from Shockwave?

It's the same vehicle from ShockWave after all, so why would it have been remade save for the skin?
And does the one in ShockWave fire anywhere on the map? Well, no, therefore this one does not function the same. It works exactly as it is outlined in the blurb. You buy the launcher, set it up, and click the button to fire the MIRV ICBM at any point on the map of your choosing. There are no range limitations. At all. All you have to do is have visual contact in the target area. Then, once the missile has gone 'whoomsch... zoom... BOOOOOOOOM', you buy another one (and they'll be expensive - about half the not inconsiderable cost of the launcher) and repeat.

Is there a build limit for this unit?
Does it take a long time to reload after purchase?
Can my AA defense(Patriot Missile, Gatling Cannon emplacement, Stinger Site) shoot down this rocket before it reach to the target?(when the rocket near shooting range of my AA defense)

Do I work for EA or something? I sound like an interviewer....... Don't worry, I'm just a Freshmen in College this year....

To quote myself from a few comments down:
SWR doesn't implement build limits as they are a cheap and generally ineffective method of balancing overpowered units. Rest assured that the Topol-M1 will be balanced correctly without resorting to such methods; the build-time and cost of both the launcher and the missiles themselves and the vulnerability of the TEL will ensure that in a fair match you'll never have an opportunity to build an army of them.
As for timing, yes, it will take a significant time to reload.
As for the missile, no, it is not able to be intercepted.

I don't see why you're worried about it not being able to fit in the Warfactory as the Russian Warfactory is probably the biggest one in the game, and can fit such behemoths like the Sentinel and the Grumble.

No you haven't. Take a look: Moddb.com

It's the same vehicle, different model, much like how the Buratino in RotR has a different model than the one in SW. (RotR: Moddb.com , SW: Moddb.com)

RotR will have some models from SW, but not many. Many of our team member's skills have improved and many of the models and skins in SW are either obsolete or doesn't fit the more realistic style of RotR.

Sort of. It's the same vehicle but with a new model and a new (and, IMO, vastly superior) Russian skin. As the Topol-M is an actual system in real life (it's one of Russia's most modern ballistic missiles) it's popular both in multiple mods, and was a natural choice for the Tactical Ballistics General in Rise of the Reds. This is the improved Topol-M1 variant, so it's better than those scrappy old examples Juzhiz stole!

It'll be about the same size, and yes, as it uses the proper chassis the Topol-M1 has the full 7 axles, unlike those scrappily-maintained ones the rotten GLA stole a while back!

One of the biggest unspoken rules in SWR is that we never add build limits. They're stupid and a lazy way to limit something. This thing has three weaknesses: it needs scouts in order to be effective, it's incredibly vulnerable, and it'll cost you.

Firing each of these once is going to cost you some credits, so trying to topol-storm your enemies to death requires incredibly deep wallets, the type of wallets that could probably spam Sentinels and Hinds. By that time, you've already won anyhow.

It'll be powerful in the right hands, but it won't be Over-Powered.

Topols are owned by Russian Strategic Rocket Force.
In real life, S-300 and S-400 are responsible to intercept ICBM.
In the game, the ICBM cannot be intercepted. I guess it's for the balance, rights?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote
CommanderJRB Author
CommanderJRB - - 754 comments

The S-300 and S-400, while technically ABM capable, are not designed as such and have never really been tested in that role. Their main role is strategic air defence of cities, key military installations, and in the form of the S-300V/VM series, long-range defence of Ground Forces troops on the move (hence the tracked nature of the Gladiator/Giant complex vehicles as opposed to the wheeled nature of the battery vehicles in the S-300P/PMU/S-400 series Grumble/Gargoyle/Growler complexes). Their main ABM job would be against tactical ballistic weapons such as Scuds (or, rather, Pershings) rather than the ICBM threat, for which the A-135 system was designed (but is admittedly effectively useless at the moment). ICBM warheads travel immeasurably faster and are immeasurably harder to track than tactical ballistic weapons, so while it might be possible, it's very unlikely that even the S-400 would be anyone's first choice for ICBM defence.

As for in-game, the Topol-M1 can't be intercepted primarily because it would look daft and yes, be unbalanced (as you'd have to then give anti-missile capabilities to the Twin Fang and Chapparal - and the ECA and GLA equivalents, when they're revealed - which would be completely counter-intuitive). To give a slightly more in-universe explanation, it also carries one of the most modern anti-missile-defence suites in the world, though we know little about it.

The 7-axle chassis is actually the technically correct one from real life. the GLA one from ShockWave had been GLA-ised with a chassis taken from the Scud Launcher as it was a fictional terrorist army variant.

Yes, if we were to be pedantic this 7-axle chassis is the one from the original Topol, with the Topol-M possessing an 8-axle version. But really I don't think it matters too much.

One last thing:

Although the axle configuration is quite different from the real launcher

Description

This 2.0 Exclusive unit will be available for General Zhukov. As you may imagine it launches multiple independently-targetable re-entry vehicles ('MIRVs') with devastating effect. In-game, this means you will obtain a vehicle that can fire anywhere on the map as long as you have units scouting for you or other reconnaissance illuminating the target and you have ample cash to replenish the ICBM after each successive launch. They are however very slow and lightly armoured, and should be considered a high priority to protect (or destroy, depending on the friendliness of the owner).
