Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.
In the next version, Shock Troopers will no longer be able to switch between two types of ammunition. Instead, their electro-rounds will be completely replaced by an entirely new weapon to complement their rocket rifles: The Advanced Weapons R&D Corps' Handheld Tesla Device is a miniature Tesla Coil capable of projecting deadly bolts of lightning that disintegrate infantry and short-out the systems of enemy vehicles.
Further note: This will merely replace the "Electro-Rocket" ammo for the Shocktroopers, meaning they will be able to switch between the Micro-Rocket rifle and their Tesla weapon on the fly! (Some setup required, which stalls them for a few seconds!)
Looks really silly, maby a shock rifle from RA1 would be more fitting?
Agree, defitnely not their best work :(
WHO NEEDS A JUMP?
Just to clarify the shock trooper still has his rocket rifle he just doesn't shoot electro rockets anymore he now uses this man portable tesla coil instead.
They ain't talking about whether it has the rocket rifle or not. They don't like the portable tesla coil model.
I know I was just making sure people noticed before they commented :)
it's not their fault,C&C generals have ALL soldirs look silly, beacaus they are low-poly modles.
And what about Cold war crisis? There is really nice and much more realistic infantry.
I didn't like it as well, when the hunter first showed it to me, but I can tell you it looks quite nice ingame. ; )
Also, ther are certain reasons why it has to look like this.
Any reason to look ******?!!
Sorry, guys, just wondering...
Looks fitting to me tbh. I think the classic shock rifle is used too much. This look has a certain 'style' about it that imo is hard to find.
LOL it's like they are holding a tesla building on their hands.
you could've just named "TESLA TROOPER"?
That is overused and silly.
When the guy literally has a tesla coil in his hands "Tesla Trooper" is pretty appropriate and definitely not silly.
RA1 uses Shock Trooper not Tesla Trooper.
Tesla Trooper came in RA2.
This infantry is definitely not based on the bones from the Toxin cleaner guy :p
This guy is totally not using sarcasm.
SHOOCKY
I preferred them with the bolters.
...Oh, nevermind, they still got the bolters. Still, the tesla rifle they carry now looks too Red Alert 3-ish. I'd suggest a more traditional and/or more subtle design.
Do I smell Wolfenstein?
I would replace it with the RA1 shock rifle too. This is a tad bit too silly for this mod. Just my opinion though.
Or with a Bolter ! :D
RA 1 Shock rifle would look much better!
I definatly prefer the old version!!!
I liked the old Shock Trooper. Maybe one of them should serve in a Sub-faction?
If I recall correctly, this guy is exclusive to Gen. Alexsander already.
And if I read correctly, there is no indication of that in the image description to forgive me if I am oblivious to that fact.
My apologies. Those of us who have followed the mod for a while tend to assume some information is widely-known. Though to be fair. Even a little bit of digging into the mod would reveal some information like this.
Last time I played ROTR, all the Russians could train the Shock Trooper.
But he's right. That weapon just looks like something from an old 50's Sci-Fi B-Movie or something.
No this will be an additional weapon they can carry. You can switch between both the Tesla Cannon or Micro-Rocket Rifle. =)
I tried to contact you about the new sentinel tank AKA cerberus tank for general Alexandr that I modified and modelled with Autocad and PDF, which I sent to HUNTER, but it seems he didn't gave me feedbacks... If you try to communicate with him you'll probably have better success to get the pictures, BTW, I hope you'll like it.
My name is Nick Silva AKA Don Carnage.
robert shoes in motion !!!!
'Rubber shoes', not 'Robert shoes'. :|
I lol'd
someone is talking about my shoes?
No. Just no.
well, no offense but all infantry models are not well detailed or good for most gens mods for a good reason, for starters, man spam...
but if you want to know what it SHOULD look like, without the crappy gens1 engine limitations on infantry, it wouldve been this...
Rotr.swr-productions.com
And that gun looks almost NOTHING like the one display here.
Even some simple scaling on this current model would make it look a lot more like the one in the picture, and a lot better
i wish generals engine could support a scenario like that, i like to fight battles in cities and urban wastelands with lots of ruble and destroyed buildings
I'm not feeling it, to some it looks too weird for a mod like this.
I liked the rocket rifles more, thought a tesla gun wont be a bad idea, only this design is too cartoonish. Maybe to replace the three small balls with a spikes, which are around the main ball. And to add something on the other side of the gun, its too plain compared to the balls.
I really loved the rocket rifle, would love to see (and hear) it again in the mod too.
the tesla gun design is to remind the look of the static defence the russia faction allready have,it's based off it.
It looks weird. The smaller balls are the problem, and that the "box" the coils are connected to are too plain.
Could look like this one:

Or this:

Or something like this:

Or something like this:

@ H3adSh00t: Either or these designs would look awful with the low poly count you have to play with with Generals ZH infantry.
As much I agree with V.Metalic's earlier comment, I think the current design may actually work when zoomed out on the battlefield. When infantry are that small, unique silhouette >> detailed model.
Infantry could normally have about 1500 polies without ANY problems. It is due to some strange thing in engine that ALLOWS higher-poly models if they are with skeleton animation WITHOUT lags.
So this one could be MUCH better.
How does that work? The engine might allow it but surely that doesn't magically reduce the amount of graphics processing required. So not-so-good PCs will still struggle when you start training large squads.
