Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.
The naval units are only available on a handful specific maps that have been modified to include the Tech Naval Yard and are currently undergoing extensive testing. So far, we haven't encountered any major problems and I can reveal to you that they definitely add some interesting new gameplay dimensions on the maps that have them. However, before any miscommunications arise, I shall conclude this update by stressing once again that this is a temporary navy. It will be completely replaced by a more diverse, faction-specific selection of ships filling in similar unit roles in a later version, so don't get too attached to them.

Shockwave was supposed to be a 'direct sequel' of sorts of Generals: Zero Hour. Everything added was purely content, nothing structurally was changed. A decision was made to keep it that way and navy was added to Rise of the Reds, as that game has a drastically altered scouting/tech/AA systems compared to Generals/Zero Hour/Shockwave.

Shockwave isn't going to be given navy at this point as it is finished as intended. The aspect of navy however has now moved on to this project. That's just the way it is :S

Yeah, and the Radar dome is from Ironside's Radar / the Russian radar.
We do, on a rare occasion, use content from Shockwave. (BM-21 Grad is the same thing as the Katyusha chassis, there's some other examples as well).
The crew is doing an awesome job on these models!

I am really interesting how RotR will handle the naval warfare, one of the hardest things to code in ZH.
Quite hard indeed but we've managed a work around =) (some serious props for The_Hunter as he pulled off a trick out of his hat for this one)
I'll be posting some screenshots of them actually in game but from what I can tell you is that they can indeed move freely on water, cannot go on land and they cannot move on land through the navy yard -- this is why you will always see land geometry under it to prevent it so =)

Hey numbnuts, they were going for a Red Alert inspired DDG here. The Destroyer in that game had a box launcher up front and dual depth charge launcher aft. With this model they replaced the depth charges with a Phalanx CIWS. Surface to Surface and Air Defense.
To be honest, buddy, I have every right to nitpick because I <WAS> on a destroyer, USS McFaul (DDG-74) out of Norfolk, VA. But I'm not gonna nitpick SWR because I really like their work.
Destroyers role are ship to ship combat,some with torpedoes,cannons,missiles but never AA specialized unit.
Cruisers are support role with tatical missiles(tomahawks...),and heavy AA weapons such as flaks and AA missiles
The only thing dat the team have to do is change the name to Cruiser

I played alot of mods that has a navy but none have a working ai will the ai support a navy etc..
how about a new small aircraft carrier ship with 4 or 6 civilian airplanes?
Destroyers role is ship to ship combat,the Cruisers deal with anti air and long range rockets.Nice Work i love to use, but if the new crusader could use its wep to attack enemey vessels like golem and other amphibious.
