Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.
Founded in 1952 as the original special forces of the United States Army, the Green Berets have taken part in covert operations around the entire globe. Highly proficient in the use of the enhanced M16A5 assault rifle, these elite warriors strike fear into the heart of every infantry man faced with the prospect of fighting them and they can use their underbarrel grenade launchers to fire powerful 40mm high-explosive/fragmentation grenades to obliterate footsoldiers and lighly armoured vehicles with ease. The Green Berets performed excellently during the Global War On Terror and after the US' entry into the Russo-European War, General Francis Thorn, himself a veteran of the Army's 1st Special Forces Group, has requisitioned a large contingent of these excellent soldiers to spread fear and chaos behind the Russian lines in support of ECA resistance groups. As of the upcoming Version 1.85, Green Berets will replace the Rangers that are currently delivered by the American Paradrop General Power.
Awesome. Nice to see those guys in RoTR.
So the US is still using the good ol' M16, eh?
Hey, it refuses to retire.
Same as the AK
It still works and it's more reliable than it used to.
It is a decent enough weapon, assuming you take care of it right.
Even if it's not as forgiving as the AK when it comes to half assing it.
These guys will rock! :D They finally make their appearance in the game.
How about including guys with these emblems? Spetsnaz GRU...

Consider the scale and texture resolution of infantry units in this game. Putting shoulder patches on them would be as excessive as it would be pointess. Rest assured though that General Orlov will have exclusive access to plenty of Spetsnaz-related units.
Emblems are not important. Real SF units do not wear them in combat, anyway. Well, these patches can be used for icons of support special powers. I'm staying tuned for updates.
For putting Russian SF units in the game - my personal "Thank you!".
Green Berets, 'eh?
Why do I suddenly hear Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Fortunate Son"...
Very nice.
Isn't that M16A5 a bit huge though?
^ Makes it look more beefy and badass
Due to the low-poly nature of the in-game models, firearms have to be depicted in larger, more abstract shapes in order to remain recognisable. It's better to give them weapon models that look a bit bigger than having them run around with puny little sticks.
Just like vanilla generals rangers? lol :D
BTW, I noticed that the rangers have more nubs on their "puny little sticks". What weapon were you trying to give them? Or was it just for variety?
Will the Green Berets serve as an exclusive unit in 2.0 for General Thorn or will it just have the same use as of 1.85?
Btw it looks awesome. Can't wait to get my hands on these bad boys. :D
These fellas will eventually replace General Thorn's Rangers as standard infantry. we're just giving you all a freebie this time by granting Thorn unit's into 1.85.
I'll greatly miss being able to paradrop Rangers, but these guys are awesome! :D
Made me wonder, will Orlov's SpecOp guys be carrying an AKS-74u or do you have other boomsticks in mind?
Hope for AN-94 'cos it's sexy and has awesome firing sounds.
Or AS Val 'cause it's even more awesome.
But devs know better.
Great but if the M-16 get a litle scale down
Agreed.
Are the Green Berret stealth unit?
One hundred men we'll test today. But only 3 win the Green Beret.
