Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.

Why are chinese vehicles getting different variants, they are mass produced so shouldn't they all look the same?

They are cool though.

Even if they were mass produced, one would assume they were mass produced in several different factories, not just one. Different factories often leave some kind of defining mark on their product somewhere, a signature if you will. It is also possible that had access to slightly different supplies in each factory and therefore constructed a slightly different look based off the base tank.

hmm now that i think about it rapid fire should be an ability that when activated has low accuracy but but medium spread of damage and is spun up whilst normal fire should be accuracy with high damage could be useful against a blob or conscript rush

I hear ya!
Not a bad idea, imo!
The rapid fire mode could be used as an area of attack to suppress groups of infantry, or to create a barrage of fire on an area where you think some units are hiding, thus making it a basic anti-stealth weapon(still better then nothing if you don't have some listening posts around).

And as another idea:
heavy AP ammo just for gattling tanks.
This would make the tank move slower('cause the added weight by the ammo) but make it more effective against armored units.
But you couldn't install both upgrades.
Either AP ammo, or rapid fire.

I personally don't like all the big ammo boxes around the gun... it looks kind of clunky and clumsy....
