Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.

Lookin' cool, as usual.

Only two pads - so only two Harriers. The question is, if you have two, where do the Airlifters set down?

I can imagine this being a priority target for the enemy, seeing as it allows you to reinforce your ground units as well as produce Tigers.

Just wait and see. IT wouldn't be fun to spoil everything now would it.

There is no limit to how many aircraft you can have at a time. They don't actually land on those pads. You just build your Deployment Zone and from it, you can produce as many Tigers and Harriers as you want. It's only limited - compared to the factions - in the sense that you can't build multiple airfields to churn out units more quickly.

So I take it harriers operate like a helicopter as far as ammo is concerned?

Yes. ECA VTOLs reload their weapons in mid-air, just like helicopters while they still pack a degree of firepower that is comparable to regular aircraft.

(buried)

Only one "airport"? Oh well, that needs some fixing, only having one airport is totally dysfunctional and broken, that would be like trying to win a marathon strapped to a regular wheelchair.
Good thing I can mod, or rather edit data in .BIG files.
Also, what was up with the whole "only one black market"-thing? I mean, it doesn't make any sense (unless you want to turn the game into an RTT, then you might as well remove buildings in the first place).
I'm so looking forward to this mod.

Only one airport and no aircraft that require landing whatsoever as well as Somme rather painful ground forces and defences. Think of it as a helipad rather than an airport.
And the black market's first purpose is upgrades. All of those buildings are limited.

it makes sense acording to the story.
and it doesnt make them weaker, these things are faction traits which balance each other.

Mind if you read the lore for reference.

the black market allows you to buy cash bounty 1-3 upgrades, insted of getting them with general points, shich is faster, and more cash effective if you play the GLA as they are intended in this mod (E.G get cash bounty and do hit'n'runs to get funds)
and let's don'f forget the oil and the new ammo werehouse tech buildings that generate free $$$.

I would respond to everyone one at a time, but that would look silly.
Nuttah:
Ok, sure, no landing, still doesn't help the fact that a single war-factory mass-producing AA would render the heli-pad obsolete and useless.

Erick_Auron:
Fluff and crunch needs to coexist, one can't exist without the other and they need to be in balance, in generals crunch is more important and therefore fluff is unimportant. And yes it does make them weaker, they don't have an air, sure, they have helicopters, but no air, they can't use auroras, migs or ambush. And they don't balance, every team needs a spearhead, but also a small main-gauche to instantly deliver extreme damage to airports, super-weapon, hackers, and anything in between.

Fahrenheit09:
Well, that argument is invalid, that isn't even an argument, they made the crunch before the fluff, or else they're retarded, you don't add numbers to a painting and expect it to churn out an even number, you paint around number that are already there.

Mernom:
If you're actually considering using cash bounty, just get out, money is a trivial thing, the only thing that matters in general is how good your best tanks are because of how ******* terrible the pathfinding is. If you're attacking someone as GLA, you better have a lot of tanks, because that's the only way in, in some way the GLA is the most brutish of armies because they don't have aircrafts and can't really do anything aside from drowning the enemies in scorpions.

You can't be cost-effective in generals, it simply doesn't work, if you want to play a game where you're being cost-effective and you have to manage your limited resources then go play Coh, DW2 or any other RTT-games. The engine doesn't support micro-dancing or retreating, if your army is getting killed it's better to have them hold back the enemies until you have built up a new army with your factories, barracks and airports (which you should have several of).

I'm gonna mod this mod to pieces anyway.

actually, when you are trying to balance a faction it does not need to have every part of it balanced, a weak part can be balanced by a strong part so long as the weak one complements the strong one somehow.

making the fluff befpre the crunch is actually a valid method of creating things, ever heard of "top down" and "bottom up"?

also i have used theese aircraft ingame and i can tell you, they make a HUGE diference. ECA has very powerfull AND versatile army and they only need a few, quality aircraft to suport their ground troops.

and lastly, it is very rude to say you wil "mod somone elses mod to pieces anyway" its basically using someones hard work and ******* on it in their faces anyway and you should fell ashamed of yourself, i also wanted some things to be a little diferent but i like this mod and respect its creators.

if you can build 100,000,000,000 harriers from the one airstrip then it just slows you down, not show you have few resources. but still its very cool

Description

The European Deployment Zone serves two distinct purposes: Aside from fielding and maintaining the ECA's arsenal of helicopters and VTOLs, it also acts as a central drop-off point for reinforcements that are delivered by an airship. Due to the extreme losses of aerial equipment in the wake of the Russian bombing and missile raids, the ECA's remaining air assets are spread so thin that every front sector can only operate one Deployment Zone at a time, forcing commanders to conserve their aircraft as they can only be produced - and replaced - at a single facility.
