Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.
The WASP Hive ('Weaponized Assault, Security & Patrol' Drone) is the latest American asset in unconventional warfare. Ever since the turn of the millennium, unmanned weapons have become a mainstay counter-insurgency tool in the Middle East and Africa. The WASP Hive was the first breakthrough made by current generation drone technologies, the result of billions of Dollars worth of research and their increasing importance to US military operations.
Although a plain Stryker APC on the outside, its passenger compartment has been completely redesigned to shelter advanced computer systems and a console. Besides the driver, the only other crew member is the drone operator. Thanks to advanced computer assistance controls, the operator functions more as a 'drone commander' than a 'drone pilot' as he orders an entire swarm of WASPs to fight for him and protect the vehicle if necessary.
The technology does have its limitations however: Although the operator has what seems to be an unlimited swarm of drones at his disposal, the computer cannot control more than three drones simultaneously. Due to the expendable nature of the WASPs, the Hive is designed with drone losses in mind and can quickly a replace a drone that is shot down, making it excellent for harassing enemies and supporting more valuable units at a long distance.
Little is known about the drone operators themselves, other than they are required to have a high resistance to fatigue due to extended active duty and patience to conduct operations that can last days in scouting, acquiring and neutralizing a single target.

only three, they get shot down pretty easily, but they also respawn quick enough.
This unit is meant to be a tier 1 artillery.

Drone controller. Idea is quite old, Contra mod has it from at least 004 release. I am not saying it's bad to get ideas from others, but I can't stand guys writing "ohh, what a wonderful idea, you guys are amazing".

The concept might be old in the community but wasp's design is unique enough. It's design, role, gameplay functions etc are way different from Contra's drone controller (or w/e it's called). So why can't it be called a wonderful idea?
Contra's drone controller is an artilery too,so basicly different only design.

awesome idea probably one of the most innovative ideas that ROTRs come up with recently. its a nice blend of high-tech and cool without being to ridiculous and sci-fi ish.
great to see all these new units for 1.72 and whats all this ******** about ideas getting ripped off contra ive looked closely at contra and its nothing like ROTR or its veichals at all. contra goes over board with ridicules ideas(TERMINATORS? come on)and as much as want to like it it just cant compete with the innovation and quality of ROTRs team.

i didn't mean to bash contra and ive played a fair amount of it myself and enjoyed it its just i cant see any resemblance of this unit to any unit in contra or any other mod for that.
His point fanboy is that while the idea is cool, it is in no way innovative as you and others like you say. The idea of a drone controller was done before in other mods a long time ago. The way it is implemented here is cool and interesting, but innovative ... really.
And stop bashing other mods to make your point. This goes for all fanboys. It makes you look bad and it may even bother those mods members, which unlike you are actually doing something constructive.
Yeah, I haven't seen any recommendations or anything. The idea is old but still nice enough.

Yeah, unfortunately SWR has some fanboys who will karma spam you for disagreeing or contradicting with any single tiny thing the devs say whether it's just a difference of opinion or constructive criticism or feedback or whatever. If they had a mind and opinions of their own they'd likely realize that they are probably just as annoying to the mod team as they are to us. No one likes a fanboy.

It appears to be an autocannon, chaingun, or machinegun and missiles...
It was actually waay too powerful in the internal beta and we had to tone it down. The thing did too much damage and the drones had incredible range.

Again i will say, not wonderful and not awesome idea. Idea is old as Earth. But yes, vehicle model is nice.
All of you who keep re-iterating that this is an 'old' concept, please consider the fact that there's only so many brandnew things you can think of for a game that'll be a -decade- old in a few months.
