Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.

This campaign follows the European Continental Alliance's revenge campaign against the Global Liberation Army. During the events of Zero Hour, the United States evacuated Europe after years of 'protecting their interests', much to the dismay of European leaders. After the GLA almost conquered continental Europe, only to be stopped by China, Europe enjoyed a peaceful yet...impoverished era. The European's soon realised that China was only interested in making Europe strengthen the Chinese economy. Soon China was kicked out, and the European nations shared a bond. Not a bond through politics like the long dead European Union, but a shared hatred of those who exploited the homeland. The first step to a self-sustaining and proud Europe was the complete destruction of the GLA, who were exiled to Africa after the last war. Our story begins with the invasion of GLA controlled Libya.
