I wonder if he is also a billionaire in secret who hides his identity with a deep, gravely voice and has a strict one rule code.

What's this caped crusader's disposition to bats?

Something I really don't understand abouth star wars. How someone can become corrupted by the force.. Its not like someone is phycically forcing you to do heinous deeds, crazy voices in your head etc.

Seems more like a ****** excuse. Just like people claiming they "blacked out, went crazy" etc, it kinda ****** me off actually, this prick above should be put down like a mad animal. Which is exactly what I intend to do when the mod is released. :D

Not sure if you have read any of the books or not... But there is actually a big debate between Jedi as to whether there even IS a "dark" or "light" side to the Force.

Most believe in the common idea that there are two sides...each influencing individuals their own way. However, many Jedi adhere to the idea that the Force is inherently neutral and that the "dark" or "light" is within the wielder themselves. This is why some Jedi are known to have used what are considered "dark side" abilities like Force Lightning, etc without being turned or corrupted.

As for Zekk, the kid watched his parents die, was picked up by slavers/smuggles as a child, lived alone on the streets of Coruscant... The fact that he eventually found redemption and joined Luke is a miracle. That wouldn't have happened if he were simply "put down". Keep in mind that he was in his teens when this all happened. Hardly old enough to be truly considered a lost cause yet.

There is also cause to believe that Tamith Kai may have used mind-influencing techniques to help persuade Zekk. At the very least, Brakiss used age-old Sith techniques to torture and beat his students into submission. Most of them would have been ordinary people were they not indoctrinated in this way.

Indeed, the nature of the force is something I wish Lucas had explored in the prequels (instead of... well you know what happened).
I personally think the force (or at least in relation to characters) could be seen as having 4 semi-distinct sides; each with an ally and an opposite.

Having trouble with your lightsaber may be natural as a Jedi gets older... But not any longer! Now a single midichlorean supplement each day is all you need to keep your lightsaber vibrant and pulsing. Midi-boost naturally allows the body to produce more "Force ameobas" to keep you healthy, no matter your age. Rekindle your...intimate connections to the Force now! Call in the next five minutes to receive two bottles of Midi-boost for the price of one!

In seriousness though... Lucas obliterated the essence of what the Force was with that scene. If I was Liam Neeson and I saw that in my script...I would have used a very specific set of skills to find whoever wrote the line...and kill them.

Exploring the more...spiritual or moral aspects of the Force would have been far more entertaining and deep. Here's to hoping the new trilogy doesn't stray from that!

The fool who wrote that line was probably not too far away. They must have paid Liam Neeson quite a bit to prevent any..., shall we say, accidents.

I have read some books yeah but nowhere close to everything. :)
I don't have any knowledge of said person beyond what you write above, i am just in general opposed to people getting off the hook due to some supposedly mitigating factor in their past. He was helped out of poverty and befriended by someone he then later tried to kill. If it truly was mind control that changes things, but if not... DOWN I SAY!!! DOWN!!! :P

I personally think the dark side and light side don't work as strictly good and evil, but more like the the Chinese Yin and Yang. The Jedi have done some bad **** too and not everything the Sith ever did was absolutely evil.

Plus the whole conflict between them is more like a religious war. The first Sith were originally Jedi as well, but then they departed from their beliefs and founded their own denomination of sorts. Since this schism both sides are basically constantly at eachothers throat for no reason.

TL;DR: It's not a simple as good and evil and Mandos are cooler anyway. :D

You're actually making a great segue into my own personal storyline for the Mandalorians here...

I've written a lot of backstory for my mod here and most of it is just notes to myself...some constant to work from in order to keep the feel and lore of the mod consistent and focused. That said, I wanted to highlight the Mandalorians place in the galaxy, yes, but also their place in the Force.

Think of the Force like a set of scales, or a beam that is balanced on a fulcrum. On one side you have the Jedi, the Sith on the other. The more of one that exists, the more the scales tip...and the Force becomes unbalanced. Until the Force can re-balance itself, the galaxy is usually in chaos.

Now, the prerogative of the Jedi will always be the elimination of the Sith and vice-versa. However, if this happens, the scales will forever be imbalanced. Light AND dark must both exist for the chaos of the galaxy to be quelled. At the center of it all are the Mandalorians. THEY are the fulcrum upon which the light and dark are balanced.

This explains why they have fought for both sides in the past, why they can do acts of great good...but at times, also acts of great evil. It also provides a reason as to why they, despite being devoid or independent of the Force, can still fight on equal terms with both Jedi and Sith.

So, you begin to see their place in the galaxy, the role that the Force intends for them. They are perhaps the most important aspect of all... The center of the eternal conflict between good and evil, the free-agents that always return things to balance.

While it's not exactly the same as what I think about the mando'ade, it's quite an intriguing idea. And I'm fine with everything that puts those self-righteous lightstick-wavers in their place lol.

Will all hero units be of this quality, visually? Because this blows the vanilla game hero models out of the water.

What kind of abilities will he have?

And actually... Force Lightning and Force Push.

Additionally, all Jedi units will receive Yoda's "berserk" ability but it will be auto-activated during attack sequences and not a clickable button. This means...no more...transition animation, only to have targets moved out of range...resulting in retarded force-users that never attack.

That said, the berserk ability will be watered down a bit. It wont be as if all force units are flying all over the map, slaughtering infantry as they go... No, it's really more of a way to just get them to attack infantry and even vehicles more effectively and with more cinematic animations (rather than just a simple saber-swing).

Man, thanks for that. I always thought that the heroes were too generic and static in terms of force abilities and movement. Nice to hear you'll work on that.

Agreed. The melee mechanics in the game were terrible. I can't make them as perfect as I would like but I think the changes I've made do improve it significantly. Time will tell if anyone else agrees...

That'll be neat to see lightsabers actually be useful. More so than in vanilla anyways. More of a reason to bring a force user along, besides their force powers.

...come to think of it, surprised they didn't give force users a force jump auto-ability to close the distance. Or force speed, at the very least.

Yeah, a lot of the mechanics were really bad, to be honest. They were still using the logic that was applied in the old CnC games...which makes sense, since they are former Westwood employees. The problem is that RTS has come a long way since then and building a fancy new game engine...to apply old-school mechanics to it was just a waste of potential. Especially since something like that had already been done both with Force Commander and with Galactic Battlegrounds.

Description

Zekk was a young man - an orphan, living on the streets of Coruscant - who was found and befriended by the Solo children while in his youth. However, due to the Solo's social standing and wealth, Zekk always felt awkward around his new friends and secretly resented attending social functions with them, as he felt he did not fit in or belong.

One such function resulted in an incident that left Zekk feeling embarrassed and angry. Because Zekk possessed a strong connection to the Force (which he was currently unaware of) the intense anger sent ripples through the Force that were detected by a group of Dark Jedi who were establishing a kind of "Dark Jedi Praxeum" known as the Shadow Academy. The Nightsister Tamith Kai, who worked as a recruiter for the secret academy, quickly found and corrupted Zekk, using his anger to seduce him to the Dark Side.

Zekk was then taken to the Shadow Academy where he trained under the fallen Jedi known as Brakiss. Zekk swiftly ascended through the ranks, showing innate skill with the Force and lightsaber combat. Brakiss promoted Zekk to the rank of Darkest Knight, the Academy's highest position for it' students.

While the mod focuses solely on this era of Star Wars, Zekk did eventually confront the Solo twins in combat but all survived and Zekk was redeemed, coming back to the Light Side and eventually becoming one of Skywalker's most promising students.
