Seems Legit. Nawwwl it looks really good but I don't think the Imperials would use fur probably some synthetic fibers or something. But let us not knitpick. :)

To be honest, when I came up with the concept I was thinking of the fur more as a...status/trophy type thing. Kinda like how that Imperial Admiarl guy from Force Unleashed wears a Wookiee pelt over his uniform?

Either way, I thought it looked cool...was kinda inspired by the look of some Scout Marines from WH40k.

There IS actually a snow-scout concept in an old book I have, but this looks awesome none the less.

Which book? I have the Art of The Empire Strikes Back, that is a collection if a bunch of concept work...but not all. I'm curious what book has this other concept?

Maybe he means the incredible cross sections book for the old trilogy. The picture I was talking about is from that book.
Kinda odd actually, but it was shown on the AT-ATs page with some stuff about Hoth.

He would be correct, the cross sections book for the original trilogy had, on the same page as the AT-AT I believe, a small picture of scout troopers riding on speeder bikes on Hoth.

For all intents and purposes, they were effectively the same as their counter-parts on Endor, only with a snowtrooper color palette. There might have been some other differences, but they were minor.

I also cannot say whether or not this concept is considered "canon".

Ah ok. The book I have contains the actual concept work for the original trilogy. Obviously not the original artwork but the duplicates are cool enough :)

Most of the scout trooper designs were really pretty close to the final product and there was never a "snow" version so I was curious :)

Yes, the two of you are talking about the same picture. I am referring to something else... The picture you posted is some other artist's interpretation, not original concept work.

Description

Cranked this out really fast last night when the idea came to me. I needed a "winter" concept for a Scout Trooper but no such concept has been attempted before, to me knowledge. Anyway, the armor needed to stay light, with as little modification as possible. It needed a face cover, like the regular Snow Troopers but not something that would obstruct the scout's vision or hamper sniping ability...but because the armor is so light, something to keep warm would also be needed; hence, the fur cloak.

Hopefully you all like the idea! I know I'm happy with it :)
