I thought the Chiss were aligned with the Empire.

No. They HATED the Empire. Thrawn was a man apart in that respect...and was not liked by his people as a result.

The Chiss didn't hate the Empire, their government even allied them. The Nssis clawcraft was even developed in cooperation with Imperial engineers. I don't think one would design a starship with their enemies. Many Chiss were also employed in service with the Empire, which makes it, atleast to me, not very senseful to add the Chiss to the Rebels.

Don't get me wrong, I like the inclusion of Chiss, just on the Rebel side lacks sense to me. Also, for the record, Thrawn was not liked by many Chiss because he didn't follow the same ordeals the Ascendancy did, in that the Ascendancy would never open offence unless provoked. Thrawn shot down the Outbound Flight, unprovoked.

Not all the Chiss hated Thrawn, in fact, many Chiss in the Ascendancy agreed with Thrawn's ways and some even secretly worked for Thrawn in Ascendancy space.

Yes, some Chiss openly and secretly worked for Thrawn when he was sent to the Unknown Regions. However, most still considered him a renegade or even a traitor. The Ascendancy itself never allied with the Empire and the Clawcraft wasn't co-designed, it was reverse engineered, then improved.

As for their inclusion here, remember that this isn't the Rebellion, it is the New Republic and the Chiss worked with them very often. This is especially true after the Vong invasion but its not too far a stretch to believe that a handful of Chiss chose to openly enlist into New Republic ranks.

I used bad wording, the Empire gave the Ascendancy technology regarding the Clawcraft. When I say Rebels, I mean the New Republic. I know the Chiss Ascendancy worked closely with the New Republic, especially during the Killik and Yuuzhan Vong Wars, but the Chiss did not enlist in the New Republic military.

I understand your thinking, but their ideology disallows them from being employed generally elsewhere than the Chiss Ascendancy. Chiss are disallowed from attacking someone unless provoked; which they weren't at the time. Neither would they attack their own people, not even Thrawn, despite his actions.

While they maybe weren't allied (for some reason not confirmed anymore), the Chiss Ascendancy did recognise that the Empire stood a better chance against the Yuuzhan Vong than the Rebels, or even the New Republic did. Since the Ascendancy was well aware of this threat, it seems more logical for them to support the Empire in any way.

The difference is that now, the Empire is only the Remnant, broken into factions and in some ways, even more xenophobic than they were before. After Thrawn's death, the Chiss basically had nothing to do with them.

Corran Horn (at least that's who I thought it was) even undertook a mission to Csilla to win over the assistance of the Chiss during the Vong war. It's true that he HAD to take this mission because tensions between the Chiss and the New Republic were high (and the Chiss wanted to just sit back and wait out the Vong, rather than meet them in open war)but eventually an accord was struck and the Chiss saw the necessity of joining forces against a common threat. They didn't fly under one banner...that would never happen. But Clawcraft and X-wing squadrons often flew together and Chiss ground forces were employed in places too.

I'd go as far as to say that apart from Thrawn, they had nothing to do with the Remnant. (Empire of the Hand is a very different thing in this case, as opposed to what most think)

I do remember that bit, they were met by Syndic Formbi with that. I know Clawcraft and X-Wings were combined at several points in the war (Vanguard Squadron), although they barely employed any ground forces during that war.

Chiss were long aware that the Yuuzhan Vong were there, and given that they essentially bet on the Empire having a better chance to beat them (to be fair, they did), I can imagine the Chiss blaming the New Republic for what happened when the Rebellion and the New Republic destroyed the Empire.

Have you considered making an independent Chiss Ascendancy minor faction a possibility?

Check the "Factions and Units" post in the news section ;)

The Chiss are one of several minor factions I plan to include via patches/updates.

I think you may be right. In the end, you are the one with Thrawn as your Avatar, not I. I know a great deal about the former EU but I don't claim to be the ultimate authority.

Well no, neither do I, but the Chiss just happen to be my favourite race. I also have some designs for most of these. While the Nssis is canon, I also have a as-canon-as-possible picture for the Chiss Star Destroyer. Also, you could potentially add the Chaf (Chiss) Envoy.

Yep, I plan to. I also helped model/texture a few of the assets used in the EaW version of the Thrawn's Revenge mod that I plan to recycle as well.

Well, most of the Chiss Thrawn's Revenge things are non-canon (no offence against them whatsoever, really like their mod). Then again, I don't know to what extend you stay to canon with the mod.

Also, do you have any idea what planets you'll be giving the Chiss? If any other than Csilla, that is.

No specific planets yet besides their homeworld. In general, I try to stick as close to canon as possible...but exceptions do have to be made from time to time. I only really plan to recycle the canon (or mostly canon) units from their mod though.

I can give you a rundown on their important planets if you want. Also, the only units they have that are canon are the Nssis Clawcraft, and the Fel Ascent as Chaf Envoy.

Good job, I really like the variations. Variety is the spice of life, as they say.

Also I have to say the snow guys look a lot less "bland" when actually armed and in action. But again the variations help as well. I especially like the guy with the shoulder pads.

Not this time. Han and Chewie will operate mostly as they do in the stock game, with a few exceptions. They will be "turreted" like the rest of the ranged infantry. A few other things in the works as well.

Lando's Commandos will be a hero unit, with Lando in the lead. Field and Fleet commanders will also stay in the game as well, available in skirmish and GC.

It honestly looks like Corran Horn jumped off the one guy's shoulder.

Guy right below him looks like his sliding over some invisible cover in some cover-shooter game.

Also, the guys with the silver-tipped guns are the field commanders, right?
