This is the last of the defensive turrets.

Base shields are complete, power generators are complete.

Status update is that these are needed for each faction:

Communications Array
Command Center
Barracks
Vehicle Depot (light and heavy consolidated into a single building)
Research Center

That's it and then the skirmish release is done!

The Empire has medium between light and heavy iirc, the Consortium had a single vehicle building but also a droid factory.

How will you account for the sudden lack of a buulding inside bases on skirmish maps?

The Empire had a Light and Heavy factory, plus the ATAT factory in galactic conquest only. In Skirmish, the ATAT was reassigned to the heavy factory.

The Consortium had one vehicle factory and then a droid works...which was only for the advanced droideka. To me, an entire building for one unit was stupid.

That said, the Consortium never had a research facility like the rebels and empire. So I converted the droid workshop to their research building and assigned all vehicles to the factory. I rather liked that setup. It just makes things simpler. 99% of the time, the absence of this building won't affect the map layout since, after all, the Consortium missed several building to begin with.

Besides, it often felt like some building had more value than others. The communications array for example...always felt kinda worthless. Well if you have two vehicle factories, it's not as big a deal if one gets blown up. So I changes some things...

Communications array now not only supplies data for the mini map (no mini map when killed) but it's also where you will purchase orbital strikes and bombing runs. Seemed logical and instantly puts higher value on that structure for both attackers and defenders.

All research will be done at the research facility or equivalent. No more research available at other buildings (save for tech levels, which are still at the command center). That means if you lose the research building...you're out of luck. Again, higher value, more incentive to play strategically.

One vehicle factory? Well... You'd better keep it safe. And so on. No more pawns on this chessboard. Every unit is a Queen. Don't lose it!

Well I don't disagree I'm just wondering what will take their physical spot on skirmish maps.

Oh. Nothing. The spot will just remain empty. Ive tested this on a few maps and it looks fine.

Is this another one of your sneaky references? I really feel like i've seen this before....

Yes but also no.

It is a more loose reference but the source material kind of just draws from generic "futuristic missile launcher" design.

Thats the idea. Lol. Thats also why i basically copied the base from the other mando turret and just put the missile pods on top. Why design all these different turrets when you can make one, modular base, and just slap different weapons systems onto it? Mandalorian efficiency at its finest.

They must have designed the GDI defences in Tiberium sun. Modular designs are great, I like to see them.

It kind of reminds me of that weird Space Marine drone turret. The Tarantula I think?
