I know I posted a video about this a while ago but I said there were many bugs still to be worked out before I applied it to other infantry... Well, 99% of those bugs have been fixed and I have begun implementing on all other infantry. So, here is a small fireteam of Stormies, running...AND shooting :)
With this,maybe infantry won't be completely useless anymore.

Yes, they will hopefully be much better and, if nothing else, just look more realistic on the battlefield.
However, I'm also adding abilities to each infantry unit to make them more viable. For example, Stormies now have their iconic "stun" shot as an ability that makes them particularly effective against Heroes. They themselves don't do much damage but they can stun the hero for a short time, to be attacked by another unit.

Just make infantry "real" units, not as 2 squads of 9 troops. Stormies could have 4 squads of riflemen plus plex and grenade squads. So 6 squads of 9 troops with SOME firepower could stand against vehicles.
im filled with horror. play the vanela game. corrupt that world over by fondor in slavery it gave units that had a stun ability. entire army's where paralyzed when they attacked. vehicles fell by the hundreds... bad times bad times....

Now this is freaking awesome. I would say you are setting some new standards for the EaW modding scene right here.
This also opens up a wide variety of possibilities for new infantry abilities. I'm thinking along the lines of different movement modes (e.g. slower movement, but higher accuracy or faster movement and poor accuracy).
And those are just the things that came to my mind immediately.

Unfortunately there isn't really a way to control speed and accuracy in conjunction with one another. It's a cool thought but EaW just isn't set up for it. Really, that's the biggest failure of EaW is the complete disregard for infantry mechanics.
Couldn't there be something done using the deploy ability, only that it makes the unit slower instead of completely immobile? Or something based on the alt. fire abilites that changes movement speed as well as the projectile accuray? And there are definitely some unit abilities that affect movement speed.
I'm far away from being an xml coding expert, so I could be wrong, but I think it might be possible to make something like that work utilizing already existing effects. Of course it wouldn't be real infantry behaviour, but it might work.
That works for speed but there is unfortunately no way to actively control accuracy. Once it's set in the XML, that's the degree it remains at.
Hrm, you are propably right. Still, I think I'll try and meddle with my EaW files a bit before I abandon that idea. Haven't done that in a while, lol.
Maybe simulate raised accuracy via a minor bonus to damage done? Treat it as more shots hitting the target or something?
Brota sent me a PM actually about hard points and the passive deploy ability that could make this work. I will play around with it after all the bugs of the rig itself are worked out.

Also, the frontmost stormtrooper looks like he's dodging his buddy's shot. Or about to start dancing some weird stormtrooper dance.

Reminds me of one of the Rogue Squadron games where the LucasArts logo was a bunch of dancing stormtroopers. (Might have been the second. I think the third had them disco'ing, I think).
Both of the GameCube releases have disco intros. I own all three games in the series :)

Same here. I re-purchased an N64 specifically for this and a few other games though. It's a ton of fun. I think it should be on Disney's list, right after the new Battlefront.
It'd be cool to see Disney re-release an updated version of some of the older games.
Is it posible for infantry to automatically use the take cover ability when stationary or under fire?, btw awesome the shooting while moving ability, i had this mod since 2013, Oya ad'ika, keep the awesome work
Also you said you where giving iconic abilities to infantry, i really hope that means jetpacks for the mandos, imagine shooting while flying
Jetpacks for the Mandalorian Protectors. Base Mando infantry just have combat buff.

The rigging isn't totally finalized yet but when it is, I plan to share the process. Still a few bugs to work out though.
