Very nice!! Maybe I suggest tweaking the armor a bit, from top up view the ship looks very different from the ones we are used to see, maybe it is the perfect symmetric straight lines and the constant grey color? That hull texture makes it look very "modern" . to me the gr75 is a very functional "piece of junk".

Am I the only one that sees it this way? It looks very "clean"

The idea was that the New Republic has better funding and more people. The GR75 might be from a newer batch anyway than what we were used to seeing. They don't come out of production looking like junk :)

However, I am willing to revise a bit.

Why did the Rebels send Gallorfrees to Endor? Always bothered me.

Best explanation I've heard is they were used as either electronic warfare ships or as recovery ships for escape pods from rebel capital ships.

In the endor scenario where the ISD's didnt give a **** about the fleet, it wasnt a bad idea. If the empire actually beared its full brunt on the rebel fleet, it would have been a slaughter no matter what role they were fulfilling. Real question is why did the imperial fleet do jack ****, and why does it seem like the rebels anticipated this. I feel like i read an answer to that before, but i probably forgot.

The reason the Imperial fleet did jack was because Palpatine was an idiot

I think this explanation is best. Either that or used as a sort of AWACS.

They could have been there to recover/reinforce the ground team, or to facilitate boarding the Death Star should the fighter assault fail.

Honestly, the better question about the Battle of Endor is why didn't they just set the shuttle to autopilot and have it fly into the shield generator with a bunch of explosives? Put some stupid animals on it to give life signs, then relay the authentication codes through a hidden ship nearby. I guess that wouldn't have made for a good movie though.

With the Imperial fleet above Endor and no reason for a GR75 to be flying anywhere near the secret shield generator facility on the moon's surface...it's likely that any attempt at this would have been thwarted. A cover op with specialists was the better tactic, IMO.

How many explosives would you need to reach from the ground into the bunker? Also how would you communicate with the ssd? controlling it from a distance would give your transmissions away.

I'm not saying you hit the generator in the bunker, just the projector. A droid could be programmed to fly the ship and transmit the codes when asked.

I always figured that the Rebel fleet was throwing literally all they had into taking out the DS2, and that the Gallofrees had at least a couple laser cannons.

Some versions were modified with light weaponry. This vid has a pretty good discussion though:

Looks good. Will it fulfill the same role as in the vanilla game? I feel the description hints at a few things.^^

I was considering allowing NR players to build decoy transports for GC mode that would have the self-destruct ability. That way, they can protect their actual transports and maybe even...take a few of them with us, if they choose to engage at point blank range.

In the mod, none. It won't be basically the only Rebel transport type though. Other types will have weapons.

The workhorse of the Rebellion truly the Alliance's greatest ship because without this they wouldn't be able to transport the resources and manpower needed for their cause, plus it can carry a suprising cargo capacity for its size and it is easily modifyable, in short the perfect ship for the role of a dedicated transport short of a Gozanti crusier

Description

The ubiquitous GR75 or "Gallofree" is a widely used cargo transport craft that has been in service since the Clone Wars. The ship, as well as it's smaller civilian counterpart the GR45, became popular with the Rebel Alliance due to their low cost and availability of spare parts. They were also excessively easy to modify in order to allow conversion from cargo hauler to troop transport, or both. In rare instances, the GR models were even outfitted for combat but the lack of real combat-rated armor made these types of modifications unlikely, except in extreme circumstances. More often, when used in an offensive military application, the ships were loaded with explosives and sent on suicide missions such as the mission at the shipyards of Fondor.

In all, the rugged and versatile design has stood the test of time and is still widely used in a variety of applications by many.
