The Empire has fallen and a New Republic is born out of the conflict. But in the ashes of civil war, yet another life stirs...
Tank tread and tire tracks. Obviously hover vehicles would leave no track... These are the kinds of little details that Petro left out of their maps that really help them feel like an world...you know...that's lived on.
Looking very good. Awesome work on ground visuals.
You are incredible!! Keep up the great work!!!
nice addition!
Thanks everyone!
Hmm...Looks like your gunship cameraman sure knows how to take some really good shots.
He should get a raise.
He and I have an understanding... I give him rides on the gunship in exchange for killer images.
I see. So, if he doesn't deliver, you'll need a new cameraman?
Let's just say I'd remove the necessity for a zoom lens by giving him a sudden and up close view of the dirt...
He'll get a taste of those very hills he gets images of, then.
Indeed.
Well, if you ever happen to need a new gunship cameraman, I know a guy who knows a guy who can get you someone else who knows a good gunship cameraman.
Out of intrest, will troops also leave behind footprints, or is that to labour intensive?
Troops have always left prints in EaW. That said, they will leave less than normal, as before they left prints even on stone and concrete...which was odd.
0_0 this is amazing
Wow wow wow! I really hope to see more of those amazing environmental textures soon. If it would be possible to change the engine (legally) and add some new fundamental gameplay elements, eliminating the major bugs which are caused due to bad programming this mod really would deserve the name Empire at War II in all honesty. It's just amazing!
I would give a lot to be able to make those edits too! I'm flattered you feel that way :)
Looks really realistic.
Two questions though:
Are these a separate texture or a bump texture to apply over something else?
And will there be different ones for tracks in different directions?
That would be pretty awesome as well.
The tracks are normal maps applied to regular environment textures in the map editor's texture menu. In other words, when you select a texture, rather than assigning it the corresponding...rock texture (for instance) you would assign the tracks normal. Also when you do this, you have control to rotation of any texture so no need to have separate texture files for every direction.
Ah yes, now that you said it I remember...
Bump texture and normal map are just synonyms right?
Also I should spend more time learning about modding and stuff. XD
They aren't quite synonimous. Bump mapping is the direct predecessor to normal mapping and therefore is not as good. Bump map textures use black and white and degrees of gray to compute two-dimensional light space, which is used to fake 3d geometry on low poly models. Normal mapping accomplishes that same end but uses a color spectrum, which obviously would allow the maker a bit more freedom...more colors to work with. Normal textures also allow for the use of alpha channels...which in most cases can be used to add degrees of specularity to the faked geometry.
Alright, thanks for clearing that up.
So they are not the same, but they do the same, however normal mapping is more advanced.
yep that's the gist.
Will the grass/other plants 'props' be getting updated as well? I don't think I've ever seen a mod that has changed them beyond making different variants with the same quality.
Yes, all props will get an update.
Is there any way that you can release a separate texture pack after the release of Rise of the Mandalorians? In my opinion those textures a really great, it would be awesome to see them in other modifications or just to change the vanilla game textures.
Yeah I can see about releasing a pack.
I would love to see them over in the Vannilla mode, it would make for a fun time replayinh the campaings again.
I've thought about making a companion mod that JUST improves the graphics and leaves gameplay completely alone.
It's worth mentioning though that the campaign cinematics are pre-rendered so even if the graphics were improved, the cut-scenes would look the same.
Meh, the cut scenes be damed, :D , the GFX overhaul you have done would more than make up for it imho.
Haha. Most of the scenes weren't that good anyway...
Every time I see an image like these from this mod or other big projects, I wonder it has been done in this game...
Truly the engine was capable of so much more than the creators put into it. If only there wasn't so much locked away in the DLL files, forever unmoddable...
