The DP-20, or Correlian Gunship as it is commonly referred to, is a corvette-class ship that's design intended for it to assault much larger vessels and get out quickly. As with all of the designs produced by the reputable Correlian Engineering Corp., this one excels at it's intended role.
Armed with numerous medium-laser-cannon turrets and concussion missile launchers, there are few targets that the DP-20 can't assail on it's own. In groups, the DP-20 is even capable to doing significant damage against venerable capital-class ships. Though they would be hard pressed to emerge victorious in that circumstance, without support. However, in such situations the large engines can be pressed to provide surprising sublight speeds for a short time, to allow a quick withdraw from combat.
The name DP, with that shape?

And that is precisely how I use them :) They are stronk enough to make very effective bait, without getting themselves killed.
It's also fun, even though wasteful, to make a fleet of them a nd watch them destroy everything. They're the Crusaders of the Rebellion :D

annoying little things they are. i never give chase. very defensive player. though they are a pest every time i tap the hual they run then come back with full shields again. can carve up a star destroyers fighter escort with ease though

You know...I just realized. Correlian ships are, generally, rather ugly. But its this weird awesome/cool ugly, like the A-10.
They ain't gonna win a beauty contest, but they'll do the job and do it well.
That's the way most Star Wars ships are, if you think about it. Its kinda the design aethstetic that Lucas wanted to emulate :)

It was the ultimate space grab. It only took a few decades, but we did it!
a little late now but damn strait, now all we need is a squadron of f15's flying into the death stars main reactor and fireing a couple of missiles at the reactor.
