Artistic license indeed. But looks great.
How fitting that I just started playing KotOR II again.

Btw, will there be Basilisks as space units? Because this is awesome: Img3.wikia.nocookie.net

Yes they will be in space as well :)

Will they be as effective or less effective as a starfighter?

More effective, in general. I obviously haven't done any testing yet but the plan it to make it akin to a heavy fighter that is somewhat slow but very powerful. That said, it won't be TOO slow in comparison...perhaps X-wing speed but not A_wing or TIE Fighter.

O they blow star fighters out of the water Basilisks have the firepower of a gunship and the ability to physically tear star fighters apart with their tails and claws. And when they were done fighting in space they simply flew into the atmosphere and functioned as gunships and tanks on the ground then you also had the rider itself to deal with to and they were armed with swords, battle axes and blasters.

Yep. They were truly the classic multi-role unit for the Mandalorians. I am attempting to get as close as possible to that but still work within the limits of the game.

I remember I got a Land/Space combi unit to work decently well...I doubt you need my help though :)

PFFFUUUUUUAAAAAAAAAAAA that is ******* awesome. **** yes, I want it all over me, I want to have its children. This is the best thing since sliced ******* bread.

But seriously, that's so elegant, perfect insect-like like all the mandalorian designs, yet still has this look of "Oh god it's coming my way" That is really cool.

Question: The tail sections don't have a lot of spacing between them, will the tail still be able to adequitly move without the armor pieces clipping? Is it even going to have animations? That'd a LOT of extra work but would look amazing. But that's an insane amount of work for one unit so totally understandable if you wont.

Based on his other units, he'll animate the crap out of it.

Indeed. The idea is to have walk, fly, idle, attack, special attack, special vs infantry animations. It is indeed a lot of work but anything worth doing usually is.

Is there any way to give it some kind of special animation where it can pick up an infantry unit, start flying, and then drop him to his death? That would be awesome!

Maybe something like the Rancor's eat infantry animation, but something more simpler, picks up the infantry and hurls them five or ten feet through the air.

Exactly right. The "eat" animation would be the way to accomplish this, I think. It was fist on my list of things to try out after I get the animations done.

...The cockpit looks like it'd be strangely comfortable (of course, being surrounded by armor and guns probably would make one comfortable...). Will it have a closed cockpit?

Also, I assume cup holders and leather seats are an option? What about AC/heating?

EDIT: Oh, guess I should say something about how awesome and dragon-ish this looks, but that's been said. So, I had to ask about the options.

The chair is mostly for looks as any Mandalorian Basilisk pilot worth his salt will ride it "standing in the stirrups" so to speak. And sorry, this model is bereft of cup holders and fine leather upholstery...the Mandalorians are hardly so posh! ;)

I suppose Mandalorians would rather have seats of the hardest Mandalorian forged steel. Probably just carry their drinks into battle, I guess.

Indeed. Mandalorian Ale deserves to be held aloft in the finest Beskar flagon, while riding into battle on the manliest of control seats.

The basilisk in KOTOR 2 is....incorrect. It was intentionally designed incorrect to appeal to the art designer's dislike of the already canonized design. His opinion is wrong. Lol.

I'm honestly glad it doesn't look that KotOR 2's "Basilisk". Got very displeased when I realized that it was a time-displaced Starviper...

Description

Artistic license taken on one of the most famous Mandalorian war machines. I've combines several different interpretations of the Basilisk into this design, as well as my own aesthetic to blend it with the current Mandalorian units already in the mod.

Rendered out of Photoshop. Will post in-engine renders later.
