they thought they would make a sup com 3 but im not sure what happened i read some of this on steam.
btw i cant pledge more that about 500 bucks so i did my part.
umm sorry if you dislike my comment but i prefer to donate to you if im gono donate for anyone! i never was fan of SC2 and felt my money was wasted for buying it but thanx to you this game is what it should be OTHER WAY it would be the same boring toys war it was....
I respect your opinion Avitus, but I haven't been impressed by GPG's recent offerings. Asking for money elicits a cautious reaction from me. I'd be warry of investment. Consider that Wildman is a MOBA hybrid, and GPG already has made a MOBA with unfavorable reception.
I hope Chris Taylor is successful, gives us K&C, another true SupCom (apparently he didn't have control of making SupCom2), but I have a feeling this won't happen. GPG just layed off a lot of staff (only chris and around five others left) but this was to make sure everyone had severance. A savvy, ethical move, but I think GPG is done.
Wildman may get funding, but by release the MOBA market will be saturated and I think Wildman will be a niche game in a growing MOBA market. A MOBA, even a hybrid, was not the best direction to move in. In his shoes, I'd bet the company on K&C. More assets are done, and it's more what old time GPG fans may be looking for, but I'm one person so who can say.
TLDR; No. Supporting Wildman =/= supporting SupCom. Supporting Wildman equals supporting Wildman, and that's ok, just don't expect another SupCom or K&C because "hey GPG owes us a favor, make the game we want!"
You are right to think that but you are wrong.
GPGs downfall started with Supcom 1, and not game(the game was legendary so was FA) the prob with it was you had to have a super computer to run it and you had to "think", and that impacted sails.
There next problem was Demigod they lost massive amounts of money on demigod cos for the first 3 months or so you couldn't play mp. There name was stained after that and no publisher wanted them.
Then came supcom 2 and they had to sell the ip to square enix to have them as there publisher, they tried to make it good but they had lost the love.
Than GPG started K&C on what I'm guessing was an extremely tight budget, maybe they where hoping a publisher was going to pick it up or maybe they where going to work on it for free and get paid after it was finished I really don't know what they where thinking.
Than Microsoft asked them to make content for AOE online and I'm guessing they didn't do to well out of that but it was better than working for free, just a little before AOE finished Kickstarter had some titles like PA that where doing very well, so they wanted to give it a go, they would like to finish K&C on kickstarter but they estimates it was going to be about 5mil and that is to much to ask for a first project they thought, so they where going to test with something smaller, so they came up with wildman, and its not doing grate.
So what killed GPG I say the market killed them there are just not enough gamers that like to use there brains and GPG like to make games that are brainy. If GPG folds we may see another supcom in the future but it will not be the game we want it to be.
So when I say not supporting wildman is not supporting the things we love about FA I am very accurate.
In short if GPG dies it WILL be the end of RTS like FA possibly for ever.
I disagree with Avitus; their downfall began when they betrayed (I use that word loosely, because really they were just looking for better sales) FA fans and streamlined Supreme Commander via, Supreme Commander 2.
There's also a few other games they've not finished/made poorly and really, I'm not going to support them if they haven't done anything to make me happy.
This mod is the only good thing to have come out of Supreme Commander 2; but it's not enough to give my money to the people who don't deserve it. I'll donate to you guys, certainly, but not to GPG.
Also telling someone they're 'wrong' is kind of jerkish. Everything written here is based on opinion and PoV.
Also saying its the end of RTS games like FA is stupid. It's not the end; there's plenty of games on Kickstarter and currently being produced by non-money-grabbing douches that improve upon FA's grand scale formula. :P
You are wrong, Wildman is NOT a MOBA, it's a ARPG/RTS Hybrid. You'll find more informations on the Kickstarter. ;)
In my point of view, the game is very innovative and interresting, and is worth $20.
Yep PA is on the way and if it really will be like TA (so they say they will make it) it will be awesome and rts games didn´t die. I grow up with TA and i really like to be able to play it today too but it didn´t run on Windows Vista and upway. :( What i will say is where are all the TA, C&C and FA players today?? They wait for the next awesome game including me ;)And REVAMP is one of this games. I say game because it looks to me more like a mod. And if gpg really dies maybe there will be a way to make new maps????
Does GPG even know about any of the Moding teams? (if there are any others)
I think that what needs to be done is for GPG to actually get in contact with groups such as this and get the opinion of it's "followers" if we donate to Wildman and hope that they make another supcom, then it's not going to happen.
where every company falls getting the opinion of it's gamers, otherwise they can never improve. If we hope for another supcom, it's we (the gamers) that need to let them known what we want in a game or we'll never see a good version of it again.
not saying not to donate, but we can't just hope, we need to make our opinions known. comments such as these seen on the pages of forums and mod sites are a great way for our input to be heard.
GPG makes good games like SC/FA when there running off there own money, SC2 wasn't there money it was SE money all they did was follow a plan laid out for them yes it was a mistake but you would take the same offer when there wasn't any think like kickstarter at the time.
SC/FA was mostly GPGs so the game ended up being good
SC2 was funded by SE which had control over GPGs in what they could do and could also SE want to expand it to console and didn't give a small team like GPGs enough time to work on it.
Here is the link: Kickstarter.com
thanks for the link madface. I pledged some money. I feel like I owe gpg this much for the Supcom series.
If they were making another Sup Com then I'd be happy to.
they thought they would make a sup com 3 but im not sure what happened i read some of this on steam.

@Carlo_06 - If you want Supcom 3 or Kings and Castles you got to show it with your wallet. Give Gas powered games money and they will deliver.
I would, but they gave up supcom, which is the only games i like from them, so unless they make another supcom, my money would be going to a waste.
Backing Wildman is the only chance any of us have of ever seeing another good supcom game.
Wildman IS GPG if it dies they die, and supcom dies with them.
Wildman is supcom o_o
Lol he drives an ACU to work XD
They traded Kings and Castles for this. Well, that's a few down the tech level.
No if Wildman dose good on kickstarter there going to try K&C on it but they will have to ask a lot more.
umm sorry if you dislike my comment but i prefer to donate to you if im gono donate for anyone! i never was fan of SC2 and felt my money was wasted for buying it but thanx to you this game is what it should be OTHER WAY it would be the same boring toys war it was....

I agree 100% that they betrayed us with SC2, but that was not where they started going down.
have a read of this Forums.gaspowered.com
Chris knows that they messed up SC2 and would learn from his/there mistakes.
To me PA looks boring it has nothing appealing to me at all.
A lot of People hate GPG because of what they did with SC2 but in the end what good dose hate really do?
Doesn't do anything good certainly!
But again, I say give PA a chance; especially since it'll have modding tools. :3
When PA comes out I will defiantly see if its worth playing, but atm it dose not appeal to me sorry.
You are wrong, Wildman is NOT a MOBA, it's a ARPG/RTS Hybrid. You'll find more informations on the Kickstarter. ;)

Nooooooooooooooooo. Don't let it die.
SupCom is owned by Square-Enix now....so GPG can't make another SupCom game.
They can if Square lets them.
SUPPORT SQUARE-ENIX XD
SE messed up quite some titles... such as dungeon siege and sup com ... LOL
SE SUCKS LETS ROB THEM INSTEAD.
LOL, That shud pay the rest of GPG's needed money XD
Yell yeah, thats the thing.....'IF'
Yer :/
Still, we do have Planetary Annihilation in the works.
So I would hardly call dead on the genre yet.
Nope its dead :(
Well then, I guess it's time to kick this modding into overdrive and get your skills together.
If you think it's dead, then build it anew!
Start your own game and bring the genre back to life!
I hope to man I really do.
Good luck.
thanks
Can i ask how you know Planetary Annihilation is dead? I thought they reached their kickstarter goal?
PA isnt dead, they just killed the genre with its cartoonery.
they did in fact they got alot more then thier goal it's actually the exact opposite of dead.
Thats what i thought....
Yep PA is on the way and if it really will be like TA (so they say they will make it) it will be awesome and rts games didn´t die. I gave away my 45 dollar for the sake of FA.
right now GPG thinks it's for the sake of Wildman
or the company, either way
