Renegade X is a mod dedicated to recreating C&C Renegade in the new generation engine, the Unreal Engine 3. We all believe the Command and Conquer series is a very special one, and its fans have been following its games for over a decade now. C&C has been one of the most successful videogame series in the RTS Genre. Our modding team believes that C&C Renegade is truly a hidden gem in the FPS genre. C&C Renegade's specialty was its multiplayer mode, because it was not mindless killing like most games. A player was thrown into a battle as soon as he joined a server, in which teamplay was the only way to win. The game revolves around a war between the Global Defense Initiative, and the Brotherhood of Nod. Each faction would have their own base of operations consisting of buildings. A team had to work together to destroy the enemy base, while keeping theirs intact. Obelisk/Advanced Guard Tower (Base defenses) Without these, your team has no automatic defense. Hand of Nod/ Barracks...

Maybe it's just me but I think that the typical UT3 character movement doesn't fit here. Are you changing it or do you think it's good the way it is?
But the rest is just perfect, no argument there. *thumbs up*

The vid is awesome :D Even though I hated the original Renegade (mainly because I sucked at it), im definately gonna give this a try.

I have to agree with Saanik, though.. the animations for the characters doesnt quite fit. It's probably because these soldiers are way thinner than the tank-dudes of vanilla UT3 :P

At the moment the mod is currently using the Unreal Tournament 3 character rig and animations. This will probably remain the case in the first release, however afterwards we have plans on making our own rigs and animations that will be far superior to UT3's.

i think it would be awesome (for future release) for more weapon upgrade options at bases. lazer cannons for nod tanks, rail guns for GDI tanks ect ect

No that would suck in my opinion.

That kills the idea of Renegade on UT3 because Renegade didn't had that kind of upgrades

A reply to a year old comment I know. But I want this said: C&C Renegade is set in the First Tiberium War, not EA's Third Tiberium War. Aprox 40-50 years is between the wars, so your idea is completley off.

Yes it will, however the possibilities of them being implimented in the first release are questionable. But none the less they will be in the mod.

One simple word: wow. But it's a shame that the mod is on Unreal engine/for Unreal game... perhaps could be made standalone.

How is it a shame that it's on the Unreal Engine? One of the main reasons why you are saying "wow" is BECAUSE this is on a current generation engine and not something as old as W3D.

There's no way we can make it standalone, because EA owns rights to C&C, and UT3 is a non-EA game. Also, Epic owns the editor, the engine, a lot of the textures, animations, etc. that we are using. In other words, we don't have a license to the engine for us to make it a standalone/not need UT3.

Otherwise, we'd have two serious lawsuits on our hands.

Just spend the 10 bucks that UT3 is worth these days and you will have no problems.

LOL, C&C Reborn is beautiful without a need of UT3 engine! Played beta, seen screenshots... it was just laziness of W3D devs to make something more ambitious!

But all EA games was hastened. ;-P So anyway, it's the fault of too much hurry.

Renegade X is astounding & awesome.
But look at Moddb.com Isn't it beautiful, too? And done in W3D!

Can you make a video of the gameplay background please?

I want to see how the panels are working. How it's possible to purchase vehicles, how to use special abilities/gimmicks and whatnot. Something that made Renegade what is is.

Not just some shooting action (that reminds a lot of UT3) please.

This is still in development, some features (like fully working and graphically finished purchase terminals) aren't quite completed yet.

As stuff gets more finished, the more you will see it :).

awww but this is like the heart of the game!

You should really work on this stuff first, on a raw base (even with old UT3 graphics), to make sure it gets done in time. (it requires a LONG learning process if the programmer doesn't know much about it)

Swapping around textures and vehicle models doesn't really make the game Renegade yet. :P
You know.. it still says "Headshot" in the old UT3 font, and stuff like that. Should be taken out in the first place, because I think it makes the trailers look retarded. I hope you don't want to keep that and have in mind it may be a good change from Renegade - it's not :o
Same with the hurt sounds of the players. I can't hear it anymore! LOL

You must get rid of old UT3 stuff as much as possible. imo.

Sorry, didn't meant to be bashing the mod or something. It's great so far!

I think you've misunderstood.

Things like purchase terminals, purchasing vehicles and infantry, bases, even the Ion Cannon, etc. is all done. We're not doing a UT3-styled Renegade, this is a total conversion.

The reason why we have not shown the menu is because the menu graphics are not done, but right now it is fully working and you will see it a lot sooner than you would possibly expect.

Believe me, the mod at this point is very Renegadey. I don't see why the term "Headshot" bothers you, we took out the UT announcer guy, so it really is just the text. And to be honest it gives you a bit of an adrenaline rush ingame.

one thing I saw was that when a tank is killed the person ejected great like that, but I think the tank should disappear just like in renegade

so you can time you last shot so you can run over all the people in side.

other than that loosk great, it would be so great to play ren with out all the annoyign glitchs

No offense but your a moron... in The Newer Versions of renegade there is a husk of the vehicle after its destroyed.. then u can repair it as engineer and get it back. unless the vehicle husk is destroyed.. (Husk Means Wreckage of a Vehicle that's repairable.) In all C&C Games including tiberium wars theres a walker husk of juggernauts and even husks of other vehicles. but they dissapear over time or sink into the ground.. in the older C&CS they didnt have that but they had that in generals and all the newer C&C games
