Adding 100% Silent Machete in Redux 2.9b Modder's Guide - A Far Cry 2 Modding Guide by Marc
- APPLIED NEW FIXES BY TOM:
(7/5/2020): V1.4 - the invisible player bug is now fixed and I consider this guide complete
(6/7/2020): "I've just updated the silent machete takedown guide and toolkit. The enemies were still sensing the takedowns and reacting when they weren't looking at the player. Now they don't react at all but unfortunately this comes with a bug where if the takedowns are performed far from the enemy the player becomes invisible during the animation. Do the takedowns up close and everything is normal."

Included in this Modder's Package are the required tools and files that are needed to implement 100% silent machete takedown into Redux 2.9b. This is an example package and should ONLY be used for as a guide and the tools included.
With permission from Hunter, Redux 2.9b (which doesn't have 100% silent machete takedown by default) his mod is used as an example for you to follow along.
*You will need a file archiver, such as 7zip or Winrar to unpackage these zip folders. I had to zip them in order to upload this package due to limited space! 7-zip.org
- 0) Hunter's Custom Mash Gibbed Tools Revisions:This is Hunter's package of tools that are a must have for modding Far Cry 2. You will be using this package for most of what you will be instructed to do in the written guide.
- 0) RaZoR's Modified Binary+XML Converter:This is RaZoR's newest and modified Binary+XML converter tools. You won't really have to use them unless you get to the optional section in the guide where you want to enable the machete "creeping" addition and want decrypted hash values.
- 1) Begin - Unpacked worlds.fat + Hunter's Redux 2.9b: This folder contains Hunter's original Redux 2.9b mod, and only the required Vanilla files from an already unpacked worlds.dat. This acts as a back up reference in case you mess something up when following the instructions in the written guide.
- 2) End - Unpacked patch.fat + Hunter's Redux 2.9b:This folder contains the same files above, but after having followed all the instructions from the written guide and successfully implementing the 100%silent machete takedown into Redux 2.9b. It is not packaged so that you can refer to the files in this folder for what the end result should be in comparison to the Vanilla files.
- 3) Finish - Silent Takedown + Creeping + Hunter's Redux 2.9b:This folder contains the end result of successfully implementing the 100% silent machete takedown into Redux 2.9b. An already packaged "patch.dat" and "patch.fat"is provided. This is what your end product of your own mod should look like.
Credits:
- Tom: Creator of Vanilla+ mod and had done most of the work in the written guide and simplified the steps to what is neccessary to implement the silent machete takedown.
- Hunter: Creator of Redux 2.9b, and had given us permission to use his mod as an example to successfully implement 100% silent machete takdeown.
- RaZoR: For his modding guidance and the newest and updated binary+xml converter.
- Marc🦈: I simply reverse engineered what Dannyhl2 found and figured out how to implement 100% silent machete takedown using only the Vanilla files after much trial and error.
