New Horizons is a mod made in tribute to the classic real time strategy game Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge, originally made by Westwood Studios. New Horizons vastly expands the original game with an emphasis on realism, while at the same time preserving the elements that made Red Alert 2 unique. Youtube: 'RA2YR: New Horizons Mod'

As you can see, this small yet deadly (and expensive!) group of 3 Russian T-14's managed to annihilate multiple Gi's, Prism Troopers, SEALS, 2 Concrete Pillboxes, 2 Medics, a Rocket Buggy, a power plant, an IFV, a concrete anti-tank turret, a grizzly battle tank, 2 Guardian GI's, an M113 APC, several Bradley APC's, and an M1A2 Abrams battle tank, before being overwhelmed. Not bad.

It looks pretty good here, I guess what made it freak out was that my Armata was standing still and I told it to fire at a 4 tiles away target that was besides it.

Like I said it turned its turret and the shell came out of the side of the turret and flung away hitting the earth far away from the target.

I tried out some other vehicle that I don't remember the name of as well and it was wonky too. It was one of those smaller ones, maybe a BMP or something like that.

Hi there welcome,

It's a shame you chose to request assistance on this obscure old video (perhaps the installation tutorial would have been better?), as i don't receive a notification and only found your comment by chance. Nonetheless, i shall try to help..

Firstly, can you provide more details regarding the circumstances of your game crashing? Such as what happened in run up to crash, what map, mode, etc.?

I highly recommend you follow the instructions for installation on the tutorial article, and there is also an installation video to help guide you. Feel free to send me a message if you need further help?

Description

Did this video to demonstrate somewhat the variety of possibilities that are introduced via what I have deemed the Specific Accuracy system in this mod, whereby many weapons, including tank shells and bullets will follow a ballistic trajectory (as in real life), giving them varying degrees of accuracy. I decided to do a short video featuring 3 Russian T-14 Armata tanks on a solo suicide mission; actually I did 3 takes, and decided to upload the Worst one (in terms of accuracy, in fact the tanks encountered 1 early vehicle that got Very lucky, yet was still annihilated in the 2nd hit), just to show that even with reckless behaviour, the system does still yeild fairly accurate results.

On the 1st attempt, the tanks were overwhelmed by enemy aircraft.

2nd attempt, overwhelmed by enemy vehicles mostly.

3rd attempt (this take), they were overwhelmed by a mixture of enemy vehicles + infantry.

On all 3 attempts/takes, I loaded the same game save, and accompanied the 3 tanks to an enemy base with a 96L6E mobile radar truck (merely to gain more radar visibility/sight), commanding the tanks to attack with no support whatsoever. As you can see in the video, the tanks will sometimes miss, sometimes score direct hits, and sometimes partial hits (as other units do), overall causing a fair amount of damage before being destroyed. Bear in mind also, some units get more accurate the higher the rank they achieve, creating more interesting encounters in this mod.

An obvious lesson here being that as in real life, you will want tanks to be supported in some way, such as with infantry, support vehicles, or helicopters.
