I'm stuck on mission three and as there seems to be no fix for it, I want to just skip it entirely. I cannot however find the save file. Anyone know where it is? I found the one for my original homeworld (Which is: 'Sierra/Homeworld2/Bin/Profiles/Profile1') but I cannot find the one to edit my rearm profile. I tried changing the one for the original homeworld but it didn't work. Or if you don't know where exactly that is then just where rearm. installs too? I searched every single place under homeworld 2 and only found one thing related to rearm called 'rearm0.0.3c' which contains a bunch of code (Which lags my computer for like 30 seconds till it finishes loading it all)

Rearm doesn't store campaign data in a different location than vanilla HW2. One overwrites the other as new saves are made. You can complete the game up to the start of mission 4 with vanilla HW2, then start mission 4 with Rearm. There's no significant Rearm ships that you might build before mission 4.

The files which determine what you start with at the beginning of a mission are generated by what you had the previous mission. Level data and scripts give you ships during the game. For example, in mission one you are given the mothership and a resource collector at the very start as part of the leveldata, and then scripting gives you an interceptor squadron when tanis launches it's counteroffensive. Then there's whatever you build in mission 1, and when that mission ends, a persistant fleet save is created. These are the persist#.lua files located in [...\Homeworld2\Bin\Profiles\Profile1\Campaign\ASCENSION\], and of course the number corresponds to the mission number. You'll notice there are also .sav files in the ascension folder. These are the saves or autosaves made while a mission is already loaded. Since Rearm modifies the level data, these .sav files are not compatible between vanilla HW2 and Rearm (or any mod that changes up the campaign). Since Rearm doesn't remove any vanilla ships up to the start of mission 4, the persistant fleet .lua files are compatible from vanilla to Rearm.

Many file types that HW2 uses can be opened with a text editor (Notepad, for example). Lua and .sav files can be opened, but you'll find .sav files have been compiled, so they look like gibberish rather than lines of code. The persist#.lua files are not compiled, and you can easily edit them. You can give yourself a battlecruiser in mission 2, if you wanted. Be warned though, the game scales the number of enemy ships with the number of ships you start with, so giving youself more ships won't necessarily make anything easier.

I haven't figured out which files to modify to tell the game you've completed a mission. If you find them, you'll need to create persist#.lua file for that mission, otherwise you'll start with no ships, and loose the game as soon as it loads (game lost, mothership destroyed).

Hey ... I know this may sound stupid but I cannot locate the Profile 1 folder ... it's not there ... I have created a profile and played through the first 3 missions and under profile the only thing there is badges (an empty folder) ... No other files or folders are there ... I have a legal copy and the install is correct ... I looked before and after the patch and can't find it ... any help would be GREATLY appreciated ... thanks!!

its not in your install folder,

go to " C:\Users\your user\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Sierra\Homeworld2\Bin\Profiles\Profile1\Campaign\ASCENSION "
or " C:\Users\your user\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86\Sierra\Homeworld2\Bin\Profiles\Profile1\Campaign\ASCENSION "
there are all saves and other profiles to view them just delete " \Profile1\Campaign\ASCENSION "

i wish you good luck whith the level :)
