This mod aims at making the game a bit more diverse, a bit more realistic and ultimately more enjoyable. The intent was to make clearing checkpoints and guarded areas more tactical. Health regenerates slower, weapon damage has been increased, but no one shot pistol kills. Various weapon tweaks such as, realistic ammo and pistols no longer double as scope-less sniper rifles. Increased weapon slot capabilities means you have more choice on what guns to carry. The AI fights harder, sometimes even against themselves and can now use any weapon available. They will hurt you just as much as you can hurt them, and if they can, more so. Recommended to be played on 'Infamous' or 'Hardcore' difficulties. Its dog-eat-dog out there. Be a man.
Due to popular demand. Weapons are now re-locked. Unlock them through the arms dealer missions. Now it's been awhile since I have worked on this, so there are probably some slight tweaks and balances but I can't remember the details. Think of it as bonus content. Enjoy!
ooooh
Sweet!
Few tweaks ay? lol
I'm playing "Normal" and about to assault the villa and the sniper from the 2nd floor of the house shoots me from 500m, 1 shot and I'm dead. Impressive.
hmm, it should put you into the 'I need to pull this bullet out of my arm' mode, rather than outright dead.
Always fun finding cover under sniper fire while you hear the heartbeat and your health is dropping.
Hey if you haven't already I think you should remove the bus fast travel system from the game for this mod. Clint Hocking talks a lot about grounding the avatar in the world through heavily animating everything... and I somehow think that the bus system wouldn't have been in his vision (possibly the suits forced them to put this in the game). You know, it's essentially teleporter/force field - there's no way using public transport in a war torn Africa would be safe.
I've been playing without using fast travel myself and I think it makes the game far more hardcore -- before I'd try to avoid combat as much as possible by using it. But I think forcing the player to traverse the hostile environment makes the game far more terrifying (especially if you are playing permadeath).
I agree I think that taking out fast travel would make it a lot harder and more challenging.
Just don't use it? For my game I set certain rules - no weapon or kit upgrades, use only found weapons, no rescue-ready buddies, no bus travel, and I mostly stick to those self-imposed rules - except on the super tough missions where I might buy a weapon just for that mission, meet my buddy along the way to ask for help or whatever. No need for a mod to do these things and make the game as tough as you want.
I agree with all the points here actually. When I played through the game I made the decision to never use the fast travel feature so I did somewhat overlook the fact of removing it. I actually never looked into how it was built into the game.
It does very much have an afterthought feel about it, and the lack of any animation or visual really only makes sense if the ticket is administered with a dose of anaesthetic. A bit out of place in a realism mod in other words.
For completeness of the realism mod, it would be good to remove it. I have never seen a bus driving around in game...
As to the personally set rules, some people don't know whats good for them, or have the level of self control to stick it out. I think that is about the only argument against the dont use it point.
