Holy crap, this mod is beautiful! Level architecture looks at least as good as in Arcane Dimensions!
I know that it was just released, but is there any chance that this works with the new Quake update?
Woah!
Latest vkQuake (Vulkan) runs the map over 200fps at 1080p tops over 1500fps, while QSS (OpenGL) runs it around 30-60, tops around 180 with my AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB... Gonna replay this masterpiece again!
Great mod, would be better if heap size changing wasn't necessary, however it is good to play.
Excellent mod. The atmosphere reminded me of Ecstatica.
Wow this looks phenomenal for a Quake mod! 😺
Second level won't run on vkQuake "allocblock:full". A shame, the added performance boost from Vulkan would've been great.
It is conceivable to run these maps in vkQuake if you increase the heapsize even further, perhaps allocating a gigabyte or more of ram. My heart was set on QS though and that is the recommended route.
Tested vkQuake minutes ago, runs the map better than QS. Still going under 60 fps rarely, not below 50 though. Again, graphics settings don't matter. Runs the same in 640x480 and 4K.
"-heapsize 2000000" did not make a difference
My shortcut looks like this:
"D:\Games\GOG Games\Quake\vkQuake.exe" -game ravenkeep -heapsize 999999
Works perfectly. Of course, heapsize can be changed.
Updated vkQuake and ran like a charm. Did a quick timedemo and vkQuake pulls almost 30% more avg. But frame drops are still there, GPU is not maxed, none of my CPU cores are maxed... so the limit here must be the game engine itself.
That's weird though and kinda disappointing how much resources stay free and the engine can't make use of it. I'm glad vkQuake runs better, that 30% more average is around what I experienced on my PC. I tried lots of console commands to try to improve performance, no success...
On my phone, I can run the map around 5-15 fps.
