A historic-themed Rats project, originally for Source engine, new port coming to Unreal 4.
Shading that would not otherwise be possible, without baking.
This keyboard is baked using a 10,000 polygon model; the resulting texture is then used for a 5,000 polygon model, with 2 LODs.. 1,500 and 500. I somehow managed to keep the texture and original UVs for the ultra low LOD and you can't see the switch occur, but it happens halfway across the map and saves a TON on cpu ;)
