Great news

News 11 comments

So there haven't really been any news posts for a while, and now is the perfect time to post some news.

First of all: x64 is finished. I played Radium from beginning to end with only minor bugs, so that is no longer holding us back :)

Also, please welcome Linda to the team (username on here is Methelina).

She is a professional Visual FX supervisor, 3D artist, and game designer that has worked on games such as Life is Feudal and Crysis 2.

Here Linkedin is here: Linkedin.com

She is now overseeing the graphics in Radium and will be helping me out with implementing a full PBR pipeline (all I did was PBR light before, and I screwed it up bad) along with a host of other features.

Needless to say she is a valuable asset to the team and we're glad she has joined.

There will be a video demonstration in the coming weeks showing certain graphical elements of Radium off.

I think it would be cool af to add monsters in certain areas, i mean, like in Fallout: New Vegas, where in soem areas theres just a few geckos, and radroaches, but in soem areas (e.g Interstate 15), we have a shitload of Deathclaws and Supermutants that can just tear the **** out of you, and also some isolated areas with hostile bandits.

First of all I would like to thank you for this mod and I want you to know that so far it looks really promising and I like it very much.

Second, the sound. While not exactly bad I would like to ask you:
Don't you think that the gunshots actually sound like they come from someone far away, rather than right from the weapon in your hand? The shotgun is fairly accurate but I think the AR and the sniper rifle should be a little more louder and should sound more close when you fire them. This is just my suggestion, for all I know you could ship this mod without sound and hell I would still play it since it looks gorgeous and I really love the work, you can see there is some passion included in it.

Keep it up and thank you!

If I recall, the levels have to have their sound zones added into them via the level editor, not sure if CoC's levels have those properties though.

Even if the audio engine could just do some basic high and low pass filtering and maybe some DSP that would be great. I've tried HRTF in Quake 3 and STALKER but I think just having some good low/highpass a huge help.

Didn't LURK or another mod use different samples for how far the gunfire is?

I think just having some basic EQ/filters for distance and head position would be a huge help.

I was having a stalker related dream last night, this happens quite often as its my favorite film as well as favorite game of all time - its literally the Zone "calling me back" via my subconscious...anyway I woke up super excited to jump back into the world and then remembered about this amazing mod that I had looked at like a year ago and here I am. MSwartz what you Im-dex are doing is incredible, I love that there are fans out there who are even more obsessed by this mythology than I am - I watched a remastered HD version of the film that came out recently and was blown away by all the details that I had missed previously.
I am so excited to play the game again with this mod, I have to ask - is it going to come out any time soon ? like in the next couple of months ? If so I will wait, otherwise I am just going to jump back in regardless...
Finally, have you ever had any stalker/zone themed dreams ? Im keen to know if it has affected other people in the same way...also - thanks you so much for what you are doing, you are a hero - do you accept donations ? its the least i could do...

What we can do to tell the story of Chernobyle is not limited to using an AK. The workers and their families were harmed after that disaster. Maybe telling the stories of these victims & heroes are better.
