The Qoole99 level editor is used to create models for Ya3dag.
These video tutorials cover the basics on how to use Qoole to make simple
Quake maps. They introduce Qoole's user interface as well as
general Quake map editing topics. These videos provide a very good
starting point for the beginners to Qoole and Quake map editing.
The Qoole99 level editor is used to create models for Ya3dag.
Sometime around 1999/2000 I came across a CD with the Qoole editor.
Apart from the editor on this CD were also many examples, textures
and accompanying video tutorial. I quickly got used to work with
this editor (to be honest, I never succeeded it that GtkRadiant
runs on my computer).
The source download of Ya3dag includes a preinstalled Qoole editor.
The following enhancements were made by me:
* textures are displayed with 15 bits.
The 16th bit is used as alpha mask.
* textures are loaded from .wal, .pcx, .jpg and .tga
files.
* Transparent textures for the 3d window.
Depending from the alpha channel of a texture (value
greate or smaller than 128) a texture pixel is displayed.
* The texture window shows animated textures also animated.
* The 'Texture Manager' dialog has a new button 'AutoGen'.
This button automaitcally creates texture lists from
the texture directories.
* Support for Ya3dags '_TextureData.cfg' files.
* Support for Ya3dags .lim (link image) files.
I hope that the attached video is helpful to you.
