Quake4[CC] is a carbon copy of Doom3[CC] also developed by Games[CC]. It adds closed captioning so that all dialog and sound effects have text descriptions for hard of hearing or deaf to be able to play Quake4. People who are trying to learn more about the english language can also find it helpful because they can hear and read the dialog at the same time.

The mod will feature a Visual Sound Radar. This gives an approximate idea of which direction and how far a sound is coming from. It is intended to be vague and not allow people to gain an unfair advantage. On the radar, you'll see colored blips that represent the colored captions. See a red caption and you'll see a corresponding red blip on the radar.

Eventually people will be able to turn on or off the radar, sound effects captioning and dialog captioning. Doing so will allow them to customize how much captioning info they want.

The mod is due Oct. 13th for the IGF 2007 mod competition. Last year, Doom3[CC] was nominated for an award and I expect nothing less than that for Quake4[CC].

Q4CC v1.3 released

News 1 comment

Games[CC] today released version 1.3 of its Quake4[CC] mod. This makes the mod compatible with Quake 4 version 1.3 point release. To celebrate the release I have new screenshots that demonstrate the closed captioning seen within Quake 4.

Screenshots and the download link can be seen on our media page.

Also, I am looking for a programmer to help with various Games[CC] projects including Quake4[CC]. I am offering a cash "prize" as I call it to any programmer that helps me complete one of the projects we have at Games[CC]. Currently, the cash prize is $75 dollars via personal check or Paypal, plus a free Games[CC] T-shirt. I'd like feedback from programmers if they feel the cash prize is not enough money.

Enjoy the mod, further updates will happen as long as I find a programmer willing to help finish it.

i'm still waiting on the RoE project. because if i'm not going to get it, that's $30 down the drain because it's unplayable without captioning.

and then i'll be ******.
