Quake HD Pack & Guide is an easy to follow guide + modpack that allow you to setup Ultimate Quake High Definition Experience with least possible amount of steps.

Part I: Download
1. QuakeHD_quakeone.com_compilation.zip

Part II: Setup
1. Install Quake. quake\
2. Unpack all downloaded files.
3. Move darkplaces engine files into darkplaces\ folder ( one of modpack folders )
4. Apply VISpatch ( for transparent water ):
copy PAK0.PAK and PAK1.PAK files from quake\id1\ (original quake installation ) to vispatch\id1\
execute vispatch\id1\vispatch.exe
STEAM version: you will find PAK0.PAK and PAK1.PAK at
\Steam\steamapps\common\quake\Id1\
5. Move into darkplaces\id1\ folder following files and folders:
vispatched PAK0.PAK and PAK1.PAK
QRP_map_textures_v.1.00.pk3
QRP_normalmap_textures_add-on_v.1.00.pk3
progs\ and scripts\ folders From \QR_QuakeBestiary_2048\For Darkplaces\id1\
OPTIONAL: you may mark both folders and pack them as DP_QR_QuakeBestiary_2048.pk3 for further convenience.
6. Audio tracks.
You can copy tracks ( 002 to 011 ) from Quake CD and convert them into .ogg format.
then create darkplaces\id1\sound\cdtracks\ folder and copy them there.
OPTIONAL: You can pack sound\ folder as Audio_tracks.pk3 for further convienience
Sadly, they are not included in digital distributed quake releases.
Tracks from original Quake CD contain not only music, but also ambient sounds.
They are essential for the game atmosphere, and you HAVE TO accuaire them.
I couldn't include them for obvious reasons.
7. Execute darkplaces.exe and enjoy.

HINTS:
pk3 files are zip archives with renamed extension
To be able to change zip file extension without 3rd party soft under windows:
Go to organize > Folder and Search Options, then click the View tab. Uncheck the box titled "Hide extensions for known file types"

Half of the files and folders mentioned are not there.
In the end, had to reinstall Quake.
