I seem to have the same problem. Is there really no way to make it work under Steam? I remember in previous versions it worked quite good, just without the Overlay (but it still tracked your time) :/

Ah, one note: maybe you swapped the "lens flares" option with the "bloom" one.
'cause "bloom" option creates the light color flare(s), the "lens flares" creates the light corona(s) and, actually, the expected behaviour is the opposite.

Heads up, for some reason download seems to consistently fail when using Edge, ending up with a corrupt file (with size smaller than should be). At least for me.

Retrying with Firefox now.

I can't seem to find where my question has already been asked cuz I looked for that and I can't seem to find where it says ground zero is compatible in the summary. I even did a word search for it. I'm assuming that by "mission packs" you're inferring to an expansion pack but I like to never assume anything when it comes to modding.

About compatibility with the original game (original multiplayer servers, old demos) and mods:

By default, the engine uses gamex86xp.dll (q2xp net protocol)
If engine can't find gamex86xp.dll it try load original q2 game dll and set original net protocol version
If you have booth game dlls you can use +set net_compatibility 1 for select net protocol version (like dm game on original q2 servers)

Install mod
Run quake2xp as - quake2xp.exe +set net_compatibility 1 +set game MyModFolder

The new version looks nice but the game's running like garbage now (i7 2600, GTX 970). What to disable to get rid of the slowdowns? The last version ran nice but I don't know what effect is choking the performance this badly.

Next time don't be like every other modder and see if you're messing up the engine or not, okay? Nobody wants to use a nuclear reactor to run a 21 years old game.

I can't really but what I noticed is that it usually starts happening when lots of lighting effects are on the screen (you get shot at, barrels blow up etc.). I disabled self parallax and that solve it but I don't know if that was the issue or it simply freed up enough fps that I don't notice the dip when the effects parade hits (I'm playing at a vsynced 60).

And no, I don't have any specific driver settings turned on, AA is done through Q2XP's FXAA.

I have a computer with old video card (amd rx460) and there I did not see a decrease in the FPS. Could it be in the inadequate settings of the video card driver? Supersampling works for example?

Is there any way to enable smooth\precise mouse input? I feel like it's divided by 2 or 4.
Also, had to enable DPI override in order to launch in 4K and losing FPS due to that I guess. That also might explain mouse issues. Having native scaling support would be great if possible.

Yes and I'll be stuck with a 1080p image. You can't get native 3840*2160 out of the game right now, even though it supports this resolution. Windows scales this app down. If you set Windows scaling to 1x (which is not realistic on a 4K monitor) it would work perfectly fine.
I am writing in English so others having the same issue could find the solution.

Found a bug, when I set 'Draw Hud Models' to OFF (I like the old 2d HUD) I got black boxes instead the old icons. The problem persists even after I restart game. My setup is i5-6400+RX570. I'm using Steam version with Steam launcher for quake2xp
