Welcome to Project Reality: Battlefield 2 (aka PR:BF2), a modification for the retail Battlefield 2 multi-player PC game. Project Reality's aim is to create a more realistic combat environment than standard Battlefield 2, and place a greater emphasis on teamwork and cooperation. Most of the aspects of Battlefield 2 that have the capacity to be modified have been tweaked, or completely overhauled, to reflect their real life counterparts, for increased realism. Ballistics have for example also been audited to reflect those of real weapons, including characteristics such as damage, deviation and bullet drop depending on a weapon systems calibre. Since EA and DICE no longer support Battlefield 2 and is no longer being played online, the Project Reality team made PR:BF2 a standalone game. No longer is a installation of Battlefield 2 required and we have implemented our own online account system for online play.

The award winning Project Reality Mod Team and Black Sand Studios are proud to announce the official release of the Project Reality v0.87 Patch!

With DICE recently releasing Battlefield 2 v1.5, the Project Reality Team has been hard at work ensuring compatibility with the new patch. As well as working with the new patch, PR v0.87 fixes bugs and introduces new, long needed commander features. We would like to thank the entire PR community for being patient with us over the last few days so we could aim to release the best patch possible under the circumstances.

Project Reality v0.87 Major Features

  • Battlefield 2 v1.5 compatible
  • All new Commander UAV
  • Insurgent/Taliban commander informants
  • Multiple bug fixes and various game play tweaks

For a complete, comprehensive list of all the changes and bug fixes in PR v0.87, please view the following PR Highlight thread:

Project Reality v0.87 Installation Guide
Project Reality v0.87 requires Battlefield 2 v1.5 to be installed prior to its installation. To install BF2 v1.5, you must first install BF2 v1.41. Once you have successfully patched BF2 to version 1.5, you can then install Project Reality v0.87.

PR v0.87 comes in 2 main packages: the Patch and the Full (Core + Levels). If you already have Project Reality v0.86 installed, you need only to install the Patch. If you are doing a fresh install and do not have PR v0.86, you will need to download both the CORE (install first) and Levels (install second). If you require any further assistance, feel free to browse our Support Forums.

Official Project Reality v0.87 Manual
We have continued to update the Official Project Reality Manual so both new players and veterans alike can stay up to date and prepare for the intense battles you can only find in Project Reality. All major updates and new features found in the v0.87 patch are explained and outlined in the manual.

As always, the Project Reality Team would like to thank all of the supporting Battlefield 2 mod websites, server providers, and of course our dedicated community for all of their hard work and continued support. We would also like to extend our thanks to DICE for the new patch which has long been needed.

Good, I miss mods like this since 1.5. I tried it on beta 3, but there only one map worked, I hope it will be all fixed. Good mod, respekt.

There is a problem with EA's servers at the moment I assume, although they don't seem to announce anything sadly so we are in the dark. Seems like a lot of people are getting a "refused connection to server" error message.

Anyways, great update guys. I managed to play a few moments today and like always, fun times :). Keep up the great work.

Have you correctly set your server filters? uncheck all of them except same mod and see if that helps. I'm guessing you have ranked servers checked and I do not think PR supports ranked servers.
