Welcome to Project Reality: Battlefield 2 (aka PR:BF2), a modification for the retail Battlefield 2 multi-player PC game. Project Reality's aim is to create a more realistic combat environment than standard Battlefield 2, and place a greater emphasis on teamwork and cooperation. Most of the aspects of Battlefield 2 that have the capacity to be modified have been tweaked, or completely overhauled, to reflect their real life counterparts, for increased realism. Ballistics have for example also been audited to reflect those of real weapons, including characteristics such as damage, deviation and bullet drop depending on a weapon systems calibre. Since EA and DICE no longer support Battlefield 2 and is no longer being played online, the Project Reality team made PR:BF2 a standalone game. No longer is a installation of Battlefield 2 required and we have implemented our own online account system for online play.

It is not really a scope. It is a sight.

Coltcanada.com

Used on the C7 and C9 in the CF.

The Elcan does look pretty accurate, nice job PR team :).

Actually, no it isn't. First of all, it's an optical sight with magnification, so it's the same as a scope. Second, it's not used on the C7 or C9, the SpecterOS3.4x (C79) is. The one the US Army uses on their M249s is called an M145, which is pretty much the same, except there's no elevation adjustment, it has a different reticule with elevation markings on it.

Yes, it is a C79 Optical Sight. It is not the same as scope because it only has 1.4x magnification on it. It is used on the C7 and C9, I am not sure why you say it is not. There are no elevation marks on it either. You might be talking about a newer version of it. If you took a BMQ course in the Canadian Forces then you are told this.

Come to think of it though, it is not specified which version is used on the PR model. There are multiple types of the Elcan Optical Sights. The one the Canadian Forces use are one the C7s and C9s, they do have a 1.4x magnification and they have radiation inside the sight so that the tip of the aiming post glows. There are also no elevation markings. (Sorry for repeating myself)

Since this is the USMC in the image, then they are using the Specter M145.

No actually, the magnification is 3.4x, and even if it was 1.4x it would still be a scope. Even some 1x magnification red dots are scopes. Also, I know the Canadian Army ones (C79) have no elevation markings, but the M145s do. Go look it up. Also they don't have "radiation" in the tip. It's a radioactive material called tritium.

Trust me, when you look through that thing it does not magnify at all. The ones used at the base here are 1.4x magnification. It seems that the 3.4x one is a newer model and not attached to the C7 or C9. I didn't say it had radiation in the tip by the way.

If you played with it you would see babyeater is actually right :|

The scope you see in the picture has been changed to an ACOG for the Marines (Who are the BLUEFOR faction on Fallujah West, the map the SS is taken on). The US Army in-game uses the one there now.

We are talking about the actual optical sight here alright, not the one presented in PR. Our discussion was over which Elcan Sight is used on the C7 and C9 for the Canadian Forces. The sight in the image is the Specter M145 made by Elcan which is the sight that the US Army uses on their M249. This is one of the new sights/scopes the PR team has placed on a few of the weapons:

"•Added M249 with Elcan and ACOG Scope to USMC, US Army, and GB Forces"

They added the Elcan to the M249 and the ACOG to the other factions weapons (not the M249). However if they changed that in-game for some reason, that would make no sense since they have already stated which gun carries the Elcan Optical Sight.

Also just because something is done in a game, does not make it right.... You have to think about that ChiefRyza :). However the specs for this Elcan are most likely the specs for the Specter M145. The PR team does great research so I am sure the sight seen in the image carries the same attributes as the Specter M145 Optical Sight.

The M145 MGO (Machine Gunner Optic) is in fact a scope. It does have a 3.4x power and it DOES have an elevation adjustment. It has no tritium or anything radioactive in it, its bullet drop compensator reticle is illuminated by battery power.

I don't actually a scope should be used on a MG.
It just sucks the cool out of it.
Though it increase accuracy.

Yes, because when I'm in the middle of a firefight, I'm more concerned with my weapon looking 'cool' than being effective.

******* hell.
