He's probably questioning the differences from the original 50's p2 lobby design since the thing was underground, had nothing but solid rock on the left side and most of the ceiling, and the floor was concrete, not metal =P

It is not the same map, the elevator door is open. In portal 2 closed the bridge is repaired. In the broken portal 2. and the giant door on the left is open, it does not have metal fences. In portal 2 we have some fences
