Portal Stories is set in the “Aperture Science Experimental Computer Aided Testing Facility” (ASECATF); Aperture Science’s 24th testing facility, and their first to incorporate new experimental “Artificial Intelligence Control and Guidance System” technology. The pioneering form of this system, incorporated into the ASECATF facility, is known as “MARIS” or “Modular Assessment Recording Interface System”. A more advanced form of this technology is under development, and is expected to be ready for installation into Aperture Science’s Enrichment Centre, as soon as the construction of this new facility is complete. The ASECATF has been fully operational for just over two weeks, over which time all systems have undergone extensive testing, the results of which have been extremely encouraging. The facility has thus been certified as ready to receive its first test subject. Something unexpected happens…
